Nope. I have no interest in attending midnight launch events for a game that I can just buy from a normal shop the next day. Besides, I'm quick enough at beating games that I'll probably end up getting further in a shorter time span than most 'launch night' buyers anyway, so it's rarely much of a business concern.
Question #488: Have you ever rented anything from a video store?
I know this might seem a bit odd this question but I was talking to some of my sons friends about video stores and I was amazed at how many of them never rented anything from a video store, so I thought this would be a good question to ask.
My answer: Every Saturday morning after watching my favorite Saturday morning cartoons ( Yeah another thing that is giving away my age) my dad would take my brother and I to a local video store to rent a game for the weekend while he rented a movie for him and my mom. Later on during the PS era I would rent games along with movies from Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Now I dont anymore cause my town doesn't have a video store at all, Hollywood Video left a few years ago and the only Blockbuster in my town shut down about six months ago. So now I rent from Netflix and Gamefly.

Heck, half of the N64 games I played were because I rented them (Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros, Mario 64, a couple Mario Party games, Quest 64, Bomberman 64, and probably others).
When our video stores shut down, they sold their inventory cheap, so I picked up Metroid Prime 2: Echos & Samurai Warriors 2.
P.S. - since you mentioned it, maybe the next question could be about everyone's favorite Saturday morning cartoons as a kid?

My Mom used to have a Blockbuster subscription or whatever. It's how I found out about the sublime Star Wars video game series Star Wars BattleFront, and LEGO Star Wars.
Back when Hollywood Video was still a thing, my family used to rent movies from there fairly often. I sometimes got to rent games from them too, though the last I did that was sometime during the PS2/GCN/Xbox gen.
Yes, I did get rentals before. I used to live near a really cheap video rental store and they rented VHS kids movies for like $0.89. I would only get Pokemon, Disney and Studio Ghibli movies... Good times.
Now I have my local library. Nothing beats free DVD rentals.
Say what now?

I'm not really active here anymore. So it goes.
Yes, and it's an incredible pity that business model is virtually dead. I fondly remember a ma & pa rental place in the 80's. They had a popcorn machine with that terrific aroma, and the horror section filled with the most awesome VHS covers for terrible movies.

YES. Hollywood Video was the bees knees when I was 7. Wasting my parents cash on N64 rentals and movies was great. (Then again, we NEVER went to movie theaters).
Used to rent games and video alike at Blockbusters all the time with mum's subscription card but the store near me has since long gone and is now a funeral service building... Oh how times have changed...

Yep I had one like that too just right around the corner from where I lived. In fact before the big chains were around thats where I use to rent my NES games from and in fact its where we rented the NES from a few weeks before the NA release. Now that building is a church but every time I walk by it I am reminded of that video store.
