Okay, I had Oshawott, Mareep, Riolu, and Pidove with me during my gym battle with Cheren and all but my Pidove were fainted at the point of his Level 13 Lillipup. My Pidove was Level 9 and had 1 HP left right before Cheren's Lillipup fainted!

I picked a different starter. In Black I picked Oshawott and now I have a Snivy.

Even though Snivy is cool, it underwhelmed me for some reason when using it and the last starter I used was Tepig in Black 1, so I inevitably choose Oshawott in Black 2.

Oshawott was pretty "meh" to be in White, if I get any version, I think I'll choose Snivy to add some challange to the game (it's the worst starter stats wise).
My brother is in another city so I asked him to get me either version for when he gets back. Let's see how that turns out.

Why?
Getting it at a lower level at the start of the game means you're more likely to actually train and get attached to it, like with the normal pokemon you train. [Like the lvl 1 Giratina I got in SoulSiver <3]
Getting it at a high level means it will most likely just stay in a box forever or until you want to show it off.
