Topic: Pokemon open world game?

would like peoples thoughts on an open world pokemon game open world rpg is what everyone would like out of pokemon and would spend tons on money on it. just dont think there pokemon GO project will be very good.

I think people built their expectations of Pokemon Go a little too high. It was going to be disappointing for people. But also, what Pokemon Go is at launch, isn't what it always will be. That is one benefit a lot of games get from the mobile platform.

I think an Open World RPG Pokemon Game would be very difficult to design. The linear aspects of Pokemon games allow players to get a sense of progression while also not locking out lower level Pokemon from being caught. Most Open World games have the game world level up with you as you progress, Pokemon works on different mechanics and would actually suffer from that type of system. Not saying it can't be done, I just don't think there is a lot of benefit the Pokemon series would gain from changing up the Game Design that way
