Ok within the past few days Pokemon online card battle was released for ios.

Is this game an officially developed and published Nintendo game? Or is this a case of the Pokemon game company exercising their part ownership right to the license to go outside of Nintendo to make this game? Yes Nintendo owns a chunk of the franchise but so does the pokemon game company which although is part owned by Nintendo still a separate entity. The reason I ask this is that no where on Nintendo's website is their any mention of this Pokemon ios game nor is it mentioned on Nintendo's Facebook page. Usually like in the case of the Retro studios Metroid or the recent Koei Hyrule warriors one can see the licensed by Nintendo tags and the whole other slew of Nintendo owned text including published by Nintendo. On the Pokemon official website the game is advertised but no mention of Nintendo is made. The only place Nintendo is mention pertaining to this game is where it can be downloaded from itunes. It says the maker is The Pokemon game company and at the bottom in small print it says the game contains trademarked Nintendo charachters. I mean when Mega Man or Solid Snake appear in Smash Bros it does not make the game a Capcom or Konami game. I would really appreciate if the Nintendo Guru's can speak up or even better an official Nintendo moderator or rep.

Thanks in advance Jason

It was made by the Pokemon Company, which is a subsidiary owned by Nintendo and Game Freak and Creatures Inc.

Also, fyi, this website is not affiliated with Nintendo.

Pokemon is one of these franchises that have a great deal of independence from Nintendo.

Not everything they do is related to or made by Nintendo, though they still need to add the nintendo name to their products.

The existence of the Pokemon Company is quite a complicated one

It is indeed complicated. The Pokémon Company is responsible for the licensing the Pokémon franchise, not Nintendo. Hence why it is possible for a Pokémon related game to exist outside of a Nintendo platform. But honestly, that is just the surface of this vast complicated relationship between numerous companies that entangle the Pokémon franchise.
