Topic: Personalized Gaming Consoles/Handhelds

I saw this article recently on Kotaku, http://www.tinyurl.com/26hd4f7 and it reminded me of a question that I've been meaning to ask here.
I think its pretty rare for people in the US to customize their electronics, and I myself don't currently have any personalized game consoles at home, but I've been seriously considering personalizing my DSi as of late and since this is not exclusively a forum of NA members, I thought it'd be good to ask here.
The last thing I personalized gaming-wise was a wired 360 controller I used for PC gaming where I fixed the D-Pad and painted it gunmetal grey, I was planning on adding LEDs, but made the mistake of bringing it to work and it got stolen.
I've also case-modded my BlackBerry as well as playing with the OS every few weeks to optimize it, so I'm not really new to taking things apart.
My question is, do you have any personalized or customized consoles or handhelds? If so, do you have any pictures or background?

My iPod has my name engraved in it, does that count?

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

I have a Japanese flag skin for my Japanese Wii, but that's as far as I've gone with that. I like to keep stuff vanilla for potential future resale.

I have the same feeling as Sean. Plus my artistic skills are lacking, so I know if I tried to do something it would just end up looking worse than it did before. Even if it looked great, I know I probably wouldn't like it forever, so I keep things plain. I'll just change the skins for my ipod now and again when I'm looking for a change and to protect them (the touch screen is pretty impressively scratch resistant...the metal back...not so much). I have a friend who builds computers and mods his Xbox for fun, and he's got some fun tricked out stuff. That's probably why I'm a mac/nintendo person, I just like my things to work well enough and be attractive enough out of the box, so I don't need to mod them.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I have a Big Chill Sticker on my DSi, and Brainstorm on my XL, does that count?

It's a really old photo, and one I've posted on NL previously, but what the heck...

Apart from the skin on my Wii, I don't mess with consoles really. PC's however, are constantly being taken apart for one reason or another. /nerd

As for me, no. I would, but I don't have sufficient facilities here. Plus, I hate getting things all over my consoles, unless it's the actually thing itself that is customised. Which would be no problem for me.

I used to put stickers on my old DS, because I knew that the value doesn't increase if you give them to gamestop. I believe I had a big apple sticker, and a bunch of glow in the dark dots.
I've always wanted to get a white DSi then let my Sister go crazy with a sharpie.

Not the best quality, but I have a metallic blue Dreamcast with a white Sonic Team logo. I'm quite pleased with it.

I figured that most people wouldn't personalize their consoles for one reason or another. I don't wanna state that stickers and engravings don't count, but its definitely not what I'm talking about at least as far as the engravings are concerned if they're the standard things like names or choices of pre-picked images. I guess the common thing with gadgets is to leave them alone and not mess with them. I think its a shame though, it makes them seem almost disposable to me, there's no uniqueness to it. In contrast is gadgets like the Dreamcast Prosody has, it looks like an awesome special edition to me and its definitely a unique DC that I've never seen. Just seems more awesome to me. No offense to anyone else though, I was pretty sure there wouldn't be many people with customized/unique systems.

Well, when I was a kid I had Elvis and Green Bay Packers stickers on my SNES.
This is about the closest I've come to "customizing" any of my consoles, though.

@grenworthshero: I did find it strange that the weird discoloration happens with the SNES. I didn't realize how ugly the coloring got until I saw mine the other day, its one of the few things my brother hasn't sold from my childhood that I passed onto him. I think your paint job turned out pretty good although I would've disassembled it and did what you mentioned in the video and sanded it before spraying primer and spray painting for a quick, even coat. Funny that you wanted to save the stickers, a blow dryer set on hot might've helped you remove it then after everything was dry, you could've glued them back into place.

@Prosody Your Dreamcast is kickass. But real Dreamcasts have an orange light, which would clash with your colour scheme. Just kidding.

@sykotek Discolouration happens on a lot of old game consoles. My GB, GBA and Dreamcast are all yellowy. Apparently it's something to do with a heat-resistant substance in the plastic seeping out over time.

I've never personalised any of my gaming hardware, but I have modded some internally so I can play games region-free. This part of the world is region anarchy when it comes to games. You can get NTSC-U/C, NTSC-J and even PAL games and hardware, not to mention I import a fair number of games too. Works out pretty well for me though, since some games get improvements in different regions and I can take advantage of that.
