I do a lot of video gameplay on my Youtube channel "MegaAdamreed", I am planning on doing a gameplay video on Pokemon Blue. I was wondering if I need permission from Nintendo to upload my gameplay footage to Youtube? Here is the link to the Pokemon Blue online website game-oldies.com/play-online/pokemon-blue-version-nintendo-game-boy

Yes.

You need to get the permission in writing.

You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Pretty sure you need to be granted permission in person. I'd plan a trip over to Nintendo HQ soon

It depends on where you live.

In Australia, they grant you permission on the back of a case of Fosters.

You need to have written permission from Reggie's pet pony (at least in North America). He's way too busy for us loyal fans, so he makes his pony do the dirty work.

In America were I live, it is a gray area and depends on the gaming company's regulations. Some people can protect themselves with fair use but that itself is in a gray area since Youtube is a international site. Games like Minecraft or GTA you don't need permission but a company that is in a different location might have a different view on it

I'm pretty sure that's a standard requirement of all binding contracts in Aussieland.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

Ooh I dunno about that. They have E3 next week so they'll be super busy. Maybe try sometime late June when all their work has died down a little.

In all seriousness, I don't think you need permission as long as you don't profit from advert money or use a pirated copy.

To be safe I will not montenize my gameplay video, I heard that gameplay videos and reviews are protected under fair use (in the US). But I want to make sure Nintendo is ok with the gameplay

Nintendo like other game companies seems to be ok with gameplay videos since I see them all the time on Youtube. The only time when they are not ok with it is probably when the game player is encouraging piracy or something illegal with the game which I don't do and I hate pirates. So they are probably going to be ok with a gameplay video since it promotes their game.

Ya you can upload gameplay for just about anything, you just can't monetize your gameplay videos without being part of a multimedia network like machinima or polaris.

Yep, even though my channel is big enough, I have not monetized any of my videos since I'm only 15 years old and I need to be 18 to have a adsence account
