Pac-Mania is one of the many games that have followed in the line of Puck Man/Pac Man line up of games. While not as good as Ms. Pac Man, Jr. Pac Man, Pac & Pal or even Pac Man Arrangement; this is quite an exceptionally good game. Viewed from an isometric point of view, this 1987 game plays like the original one that started it all; but with a twist: you have the ability to jump over your enemies, which consist of your regular average joe schmoe ghosts. There are times when power ups will show up in the center besides just the level wise fruit. What's cool about this game is that it was an early attempt at 3D for Namco, as the Big Cheese himself has fluid animation. After every few levels, there'll be a cool cutscene, though brief. There are more than just four ghosts, and if you gobble them up with the Power Dot, you'll score huge points. Be careful though, 'cause there'll be one that will jump as well, so be on guard. Great game and worth playing.
Peace!

It was awesome, and you missed the retro section.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

I have the Master System version. Loved it as a kid. Might have to dig it out of the attic sometime

I found that out myself. But thanks anyway, RWP. How did I do that? Can I shift the thread to the retro section or is it too late?

I like it too.
I'll probably start making some soon, but they'll have videos, and less detailed thoughts.

It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know.

I'm not a fan of it. Although I'm not big on Pac-Man in general. Everything is too big so you can't see far enough, jumping ghosts is fairly pointless as there are just a ton of ghosts instead of four (then in later levels many of them are unjumpable, meaning that there are a bunch more ghosts and you gain nothing)

I liked Pac-Attack enough though.

Yeah, Pac-Attack I thought was a decent Tetris clone (perhaps even better!!!). Haven't played it in awhile. Excuse me... [goes to pull out Pac Man Collection for GBA and plays Pac Attack]

I do enjoy this game; it features on Namco Museum Remix and also can be had as a standalone VCA release in Japan.

It also happens to be an unlockable in Pac-Man World 2. Not that I know, I haven't done it yet.

It's also available in the PSX game Namco Museum Vol. 5, though I have no idea at all whether it was released outside Japan or not, this compilation.

Yes, volume five was the "O" volume; I forgot that was on that. It was the 6th volume "R" which was only released in Japan and came with the binder and memory card stickers (and which I imported back in the day...sigh).
