Topic: Overreactions in Gaming

I wouldn't have a problem with the portrayal if it actually made sense, or if every other aspect was in anyway a positive experience. Really, Other M's problem was that it was a Metroid game made with Zero respect for the franchise. It is to Metroid what Lord of Shadows was to Castlevania - a horrible derivitive game that changed every aspect that was ever loved about the franchise in ways no one wanted. The only difference here is that there's a chance for Nintendo to learn from their mistakes

Honestly, i know other m talk is getting old, but I personally don't think its a mistake that should be so quickly forgotten.

It's only the Spotpass feature, but i do agree with this, We have alot more Mailbox based things out there and it's not like Swapnote is the only thing related anything social, besides, didn't everybody hated months ago? But one thing i'm sure is that it doeen't deserve 300 comments, Nintendo consors something, everyone complains, doesn't censor, everyone complains, give Nintendo a break already..

It's literally been months since I last touched SwapNote... so I'm really not losing much...

I was annoyed by the ammount of letters I was receiving with Pokémon pictures from my cousin so I'm fine with it

Miiverse should have replaced Swapnote soon after its implementation on the Wii U. With Swapnote now being useless, I would think Miiverse would make the transition.

• The reaction to cel-shaded Wind Waker.
• The reaction to the naming of the Wii in 2006. Though to be fair, it was a pretty surreal moment and I was as shocked and miffed as anyone.
• The reaction to Nintendo's E3 2008 conference, which to be honest, was lame, but still... (and I'm ashamed to say, I was very much part of that over-reaction. I'd be so embarrassed to read the stuff I wrote back then. It was so bloody melodramatic...)
• The reaction of fans to a review if it's (god forbid) lower than 9/10.
• The reaction on this site to anything Michael Pachter says (even if it's perfectly reasonable).
• The reaction of Nintendo fans to quite mundane Wii U second screen usage as mind-blowing innovation.

exactly! it is actually the perfect moment to release Miiverse! and Nintendo "forged" this opening maybe even without knowing!

Yeah, even compared to a lot of other "mind-blowing innovations" Ninty has made in recent years, the gamepad is the least believable. Its convenient at best, but hardly mind-blowing...

Any sequel is like that. No, it might not be your favorite installment in the series, but it's not THAT bad (usually).

I guess online passes. We have worse practices, but online passes are the one that consumers wouldn't let publishers get away with? If anyone has one, I'd seriously like an explanation of why they've gotten more flak than preorder bonuses, which are similar but more annoying.

Publishers can also overreact. The only example that comes to mind is NoE's spontaneous decision to remove the game corner from Pokemon Platinum.

and all of the actually cool stuff in games that aren't Nintendo Land or the like has been from Ubisoft anyway

also, I should point out that the Other M hate would have died down long ago if fanboys would stop being so whiny and pathetic. Yes, I don't like a game you do(well, story, whatever), get over it you child. Jeez. If I can tolerate Final Fantasy XIII fans despite wanting that game to BURN, you can tolerate people not liking your terrible fanfic Metroid Fusion ripoff story. And I honestly haven't seen anyone hate the idea of the story behind that game since shortly after it came out (those people are dumb too, but they at least shut up after a while). If you like Other M, cool, but don't pretend people DIDN'T GET IT MAN!!!! I hate that attitude. It's pathetic and insults intelligent discussion far more than it actually adds anything.

For the record, I honestly think this thread could be named "Examples of people with terrible self-esteem"

People throwing a fit every time a random game employee says anything about another company, especially if that company makes consoles. I guess once you start working on games you're no longer allowed to have an opinion on games and stuff...

Chalk up another mention for overblown Sticker Star hate. It's not my favorite PM game, nor is it one of my top 5 3DS games, but it's still a fine game that tried new things (even if it has it's flaws).

Swapnote was of a certain importance at times, due to my involvement of the Swapnote Battle League thread. It was a great application solely how @Prof_Clayton (Producer of Swapnote Battle League) used it.
I also strongly agree with @CanisWolfred. I no longer view those articles, because its the same thing again, and again. Including the comments.
