You see HERE'S what I'm talking about. In the end, people feel like their opinions should be changed.
Gioku, what I meant by "who praises them", I meant there's already a big community that openly dislikes it, so it shouldn't be considered "overrated" (personally I think the later series get too much flak myself). If I hurt your feelings I apologize.
Why does Nintendo Life even keep these "overrated" threads? It's basically the same as a hatred thread of any sort. I would ask TBD or LZ to get rid of these "overrated" threads, because people's feelings can get hurt, and its just a big slop of negativity and unneeded debates.
@Kyloctopus yeah it's not you in particular, it's just the whole idea of this thread that makes me feel bad... it makes me feel like I have the "wrong" interests, and I don't like that... :/ Spongebob fits my sense of humor, and I don't get grossed out by "gross out" stuff...
I, for one, think new Spongebob is underrated for the above reason.
It seems to me there's this cyclic pattern of things being underrated and overrated.
For example, for a really long time Ocarina of Time was really overrated and Majora was underrated. But then this was brought to everyone's attention and perception statuses adjusted. Now, I find Majora's Mask is super overrated by virtue of the fact that everyone brings up how underrated it is and Ocarina is now appropriately perceived by people because everyone knows it was really overrated before so less people give it too much credit.
That probably is really confusing but it makes sense in my head.

Pretty much. It's basically designed to appeal to fairly niche audience (myself included).
Well they're a very loud niche audence who don't know when to shut the f up...I don't watch much TV at all and I see and hear about this show all the time. That should not be possible.

Not everyone is like that... I'm a big fan of Adventure Time, and I'm pretty quiet about it... MLP, on the other hand... I haven't enjoyed something so much in a long time.

Niche audiences are usually like that when combined with the internet.
^It's not just on the internet though. Regardless, I still think it's overrated because I don't even think it deserves a cult following. Every episode I've seen looks more like a dude just wrote whatever random thing popped into his head without even trying to be witty or clever or even trying make sense. Heck, I could probably write an Adventure Time episode in my sleep.

I hate it when people say this about AT, that's not how I see it at all... I love the universe presented in Adventure Time... a future-earth sort o deal. I love when they do episodes about the "ancient past", and when you spot what appear to be sunken buildings or cars or things like that... there's something weird and almost sinister about it... I like it!

@Gioku Don't feel bad about your tastes. We're not trying to tell you you're wrong for liking stuff. (Right, guys? Good. Just making sure.)
Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, anything by Seth MacFarlane (though Family Guy was good at first), Duck Dynasty, NCIS, Burn Notice Jersey Shore, maybe any reality show beside those mentioned, and anything on CW. Most of these things I just don't understand why they are so popular.
I also might say Doctor Who or Psych because I don't think they deserve all the attention, but they're not bad shows. Also Bleach and Sword Art Online if they count as TV shows.
