why did this garbage get nominated for best picture in 2011?
YES YES YES! That kid was so weird and annoying it made the movie unwatchable. Not to mention Tom Hanks pretty much phoned in his performance. Maybe this is a case of "the book is better than the movie", but man, that movie was bad.
The Butler, one of the most most boring, soulless, plotless, and characterless movies ever made and put in theaters. Deserved no praise, only to be put in halls of shame. And to top it all off, a lot of the movie was fake and didn't happen. Even with all their creative libertys it was horrible. If it didn't have decent actors, you could so call it Avatar: The Last Butler. Or a lifetime movie with acting and production values (even if there was nothing to show for them).
Don't think its regarded as a classic exactly but was told Tangled was pretty good, watched about half of it before I had to switch it off, just found it boring, also wasn't a fan Austin Powers goldmember; really like the 1st 2 but the 3rd wasn't anywhere close to those imo.
Avatar takes the cake instantly, and the whole bakery along with it (Pocahontas in Space would actually be a fitting title considering it's a joke).
But I gotta say that Inception is guilty of being overrated as well.
And Frozen steals the bakery from Avatar. Not simply another gruesome cliché sellout from Disney, but also insanely annoying jokes on several meme-based sites.
I'd also like to throw in The Avengers and Gravity.
Can't speak for Gravity, but the Avengers wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I liked the first Iron Man better than that film.
I'd also kind've like to throw in "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World". While it was a decent movie and held my attention, I didn't think it was that great...

I think the only correct answer is the Twilight movies.
this, no hate for it is enough to make that waste of time have a fair rating(because negative numbers aren't allowed)

James Cameron's Avatar takes the cake for me. It looks pretty, but the story is just too "nature is perfect and how dare us evil humans dare defile it with our impurities". It should have taken notes from a much better movie: Princess Mononoke.
Frozen is a good movie, arguably the best that studio has put out, but it doesn't deserve the immense popularity it receives.

Avatar wouldn't even get a shred of the hate it does on the internet if it didn't make so much money. If it made $500mil or whatever is standard enough for a movie like that, nobody would be in a huff about it.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I actually hate Indiana Jones Temple of Doom more than Crystal Skull....
I really REALLY hate Transformer 2 and I never thought Citizen Kane was as good as people say it was, I mean for the time its great and I think its a good movie, but it just really doesn't do it for me in terms of BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME. But for some reason I love Casablanca.

@64supermario Oh yeah, I have to second Citizen Kane. I actually love films from that era and own quite a few of them, but Citizen Kane is not one of my favorites. I can admire it for its technical achievements, but from a storytelling perspective, it's rather dull. I also agree that Casablanca is still among the greatest films ever made.

In my opinion (RKO)/Citizen Kane did'nt have enough time and money as (MGM)/Casablanca was a much bigger studio and had the most money at the time.
The most overrated movie in 2013: Frozen
It was good, but nowhere near legendary
Agreed. How this became the highest grossing animated movie of all time is just beyond me.
I can't believe it won the Oscar for best animated film this year either. Miyazaki's film "The Wind Rises" was such a better film, the Academy really dropped the ball on that one.

I have to disagree. Frozen is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time - it's just below the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, in my opinion.
