Movies that you think are overrated?

E.T. is the weakest of Speilburg's films. makes Crystal Skull look like a masterpiece.

Dances with Wolves winning the academy award is a major travesty because it doesn't deserve it.....far from it.

ET worse than the last Indiana Jones movie!?

Are you sure you didn't mean to post this in the 'unpopular opinions' thread??

I liked Crystal Skull for what it was. Sometimes, you just have to turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

I've never been a fan of any of the Star Wars movies - I enjoyed the prequels just as much as the original trilogy. I found them to be good, but not great, much less worthy of the sheer reverence that some people hold them in.

I thought Gravity was the most overrated movie of 2013. A beautiful cinematic experience, but as far as movie goes not that enjoyable.

I guess maybe the Harry Potter films (and franchise as a whole)?

Now, that's not to say they're bad, because I enjoyed them enough I suppose, but I just don't understand how anyone could be a "superfan" (for a lack of a better word. You know, the people who would do stuff like cosplay as the characters for a convention) of the series.

I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of Star Wars, LotR, Marvel, DC, or Star Trek either, but there are parts of those franchises/brands where yeah, I can "get" why someone could become a "superfan", but Harry Potter? Nope. I just don't quite see it.

I just watched it the other night and thought the same thing. I wondered how a movie could win practically every Oscar except Best Picture, and now I know. The effects, the visuals, the sound, the music were all incredible; but the movie itself (story, script, acting) was mediocre at best.

James Cameron's Avatar gets my vote for the fact that it looks great but is really bland and forgettable.

Oh yeah, I'm so tired of JC's Avatar as well, and what's worse is that my brother is a huge fanboy of the film, so I have to hear about it almost everyday.

The Hunger Games as a series in general (books and films).

Napoleon Dynamite gets my vote. That film was straight through from start to finish, dull.
The way people were raving on about this film at the time, made it seem like this was the best film ever made.
Sheesh, I've never known a film to ever be that boring before, or since.

Brian de Palma's Scarface is a worthless piece of trash.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Juno was pretentions hipster trash.

Just about anything by Judd Apatow is overrated. Although I did enjoy his TV show Freaks and Geeks.

Agreed. How this became the highest grossing animated movie of all time is just beyond me.
