Godzilla (2014) is the most powerful film in the series since the original Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It takes Godzilla back to it's roots as a metaphor for the possible dangers of harnessing nuclear power (which is a very powerful message after the Great Japan Earthquake of 2011, and the following events in Fukushima), focusing more on the destruction/effect on the human world, rather than a simple summer spectacle brawl between monsters.
I don't get the super fandom for Harry Potter. That's not to say it's not a good, well written series (because it is), but unlike other franchises with super fandom (like Star Wars, LotR, Star Trek, Marvel, etc.) there isn't one moment in HP that makes me think particularly, "That was cool". With those other things, I can see how someone could think they're cool, but not really with HP.
-Loved Godzilla 2014. I definitely see it's flaws, but it's one of those movies where the good parts totally make the bad parts worth sitting through. Another of those movies is Revenge of the Sith. There is definitely some carryover of the mess that was Attack of the Clones, but the emotional gut punches and amazing lightsaber fights at the end make it worth while.
-Well, I think Harry Potter's strength really derives from the books. The world is really well constructed and the characters are really interesting. And I think the series has a lot of great moments. In terms of action, there's the dragon fight in Goblet of Fire (which the movie ruined), in terms of emotion and themes, there's when he goes to confront Voldemort in the forest (I won't say any more to avoid spoilers). Also, maybe it's just that I'm a young guy, but I tend to find young teenage protagonists to be the most interesting ones. That's less of a common element in western fantasy.

@Pokefraker Its just sometimes when i want a convocation with someone about comics, i have to explain everything about their "Favorite character" to them but i understand that some only like movies rather then the comics.
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA
Disney has made nearly 200 movies since the 90s. The fact that you can't say one like The Lion King, Toy Story, Ponyo, Remember the Titans, Saving Mr. Banks, or their recent movie Big Hero 6 isn't worth calling "good" to you is baffling on all levels.
An unpopular opinion that i have is that fans of superheros that haven't read the comics of the superhero aren't real fans.......
I'm one of those people. Sorry, the comic format just isn't very enticing to me. I'd rather either read a book with words, watch a live action movie, or watch a cartoon. Which I do. I've seen every Spider-man movie, and most of the Spider-man cartoons. I've also read up the storylines from the comics on Wikipedia. So I tend to feel like I have a relatively solid understanding of the character. So I think there is definitely a way to understand a character without reading their source material.
That said, I do see where you are coming from. If someone just watched last years Ender's Game movie and started saying they know everything about the characters, I'd want to punch them in the face. There are something like 10 books in that series, and more are still coming out, so you really can't know everything. But I think I'd be able to acknowledge them as a fan if they just claimed to like the movie (which was fairly true to the source material), that makes a bit more sense.
You really only run into problems when someone says they are a fan of something that is nothing like the source. From what I understand the 2003 Teen Titans show was very different from it's comic origins, and I don't say I'm a fan of the Teen Titans, just that I'm a fan of the 2003 show.
-Family Guy just needs to die.
-Iron Man 3 is my favorite in the series.
-Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of the best animated films ever made.
-The Digimon anime is awful.
-"Bae" is the absolute worst slang term to ever exist.
-The Last Airbender could've been good with a good director.
-The Legend of Korra is just as great as Avatar:The Last Airbender.
-Frozen was a nice movie. Not perfect, but nice to watch through.
-Nick's TMNT show is the best television adaption of the series.

I thought Where the Wild Things Are movie was worse than the Super Mario Bros Movie. The Super Mario Bros Movie was bad enough to be a really good comedy movie but Where the Wild Things showed me that a movie can be completely awful without being funny at all. I know where the Wild Things Are is for children but that movie would've given my kid self nightmares.

So your real gripe is that your hobby became popular and now has mainstream appeal.
Yeah, it's a real shame that lots of really fun superhero movies with $200mil budgets are coming out now because we now live in a time where people will actually pay to see them. Horrible.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I think it's more that the adaptions generally aren't as in-depth as the comics, so even though the characters are popular, they're difficult to talk about because most people are familiar with the movies that skim over things. It'd be like if you were a hardcore fan of Tom Clancey's Books, and then talking to a Tom Clancy fan who has only played the games and watched that one movie. The conversation often becomes less interesting than it could be because you'd probably either have to restrict the conversation or have to tell them about things from the books they're probably never gonna read unless you really sell it...and then you run the risk of spoiling important plot points...
-Jada Pinkett Smith's character Fish Mooney is one of my favorite characters on Gotham.
-Rachel McAdams is a better Irene Adler in the Sherlock Homes movie than Lara Pulver is on the Sherlock TV show. Though maybe that's my hormones talking.
-Jar Jar Binks didn't ruin Star Wars. He was a poorly written comic relief character who just had a little too much time on screen.
-Macbooks aren't that overpriced. Having a 7-8 hour battery and an HD screen in a 15" laptop that's less than 4.5 pounds is going to cost you more than the same thing in a 6.5 pound machine.
This one is really controversial
-Tara Strong's voice talent is wasted on dark, emotionally distant characters like Raven from Teen Titans or Presea from Tales of Symphonia. She would have been far better as Starfire and Colette respectively.
Wreck-it Ralph is my favourite Disney movie, classic or modern.
Cars 2 was more enjoyable than 1, which just bored me. I don't like either, because they're both very uninspired, but at least 2 has some nice scenery.
I like Mondays, because I can look forward to new Awkward Zombie comics.
Not sure if gaming related, but... Brawl in The Family is overrated. It's certainly not bad and had a lot of great comics, but some of the humour was... How to say... Too obvious, I suppose. It wasn't subtle at all, which worked great sometimes, but led to some cringey punchlines too.
Max Martin is a genius producer and songwriter. He has seemingly discovered the chemical formula for perfect pop songs. It is absolutely insane how many hit songs he has been behind from the Backstreet Boys to Taylor Swift. Check his Wikipedia page. Anybody who says that they haven't had one of those songs stuck in their head is lying.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a damp squib of a sequel. It's utterly predictable, visually murky, and simply lacks the original's heart.
Interstellar was a very good movie, but it wasn't a great one. It had pacing problems and was too heavy handed to come across as "deep", but it was a fun ride regardless. No way does it deserve the score it has on IMDB.
While I'm on the subject of Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight is the most overrated movie of all time, while Rises is somewhat underrated. Yes, I actually think the latter is better than the former.
I actually liked the Eragon movie.
Captain Phillips was great in the first half, but once Tom Hanks got on that lifeboat with the pirates, it became incredibly dull.
Wreck it Ralph is better than Frozen and Tangled. Not that the other two are bad, they just didn't connect with me in the same way. I mean, how could I not love it, since it combines two of my very favorite things: Disney and gaming.
Monsters University is a great Pixar movie, and one of the best prequels I've ever seen. It doesn't top the original, but it sure comes close.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 wasn't bad. It was honestly the best since the original.
I seriously miss Pushing Daisies. One of the very few TV shows that I watched religiously.
