How are we gonna educate all the older people who never really had to memorize Metric measurements?

...except metric is the simplest thing ever, as everything is on a scale of ten. Ex.: 1 meter = 10 decimeters = 100 centimeters = 1000 millimeters. (Note the prefixes as well).

But you'll have to convert it to inches until everything that wasn't used with inches aren't in circulation anymore. And what's any of that supposed to mean to somebody who hasn't used it before? Especially to older people who don't have the efficient memory of a teenager?

They don't have to do it in a single day, they can do it in a lapse of 10~ years. The thing is, the metric system is way more practical, there's no reason not to use it

Everything should be in the metric system. It's more simplistic than the imperial system and it's just plain dumb to popularly use one for distance and another for volume.

Great idea! Now tell me, how are we gonna go out and change every single sign, book, textbook, highway, factory, and everything else that relies on all the established standard systems we've been using for hundreds of years? Where are we gonna get the money for that? What are we gonna do with all the products that were already made and/or labeled with inches and ounces? And how are we gonna educate all the older people who never really had to memorize Metric measurements?

I'm just saying everything should. The time for change has unfortunately come and gone. It's way too expensive of a procedure for the US alone to go fully metric system. It's now a permanent part of American culture.

And yes, metric. Manufacture imperial to metric fittings/metres/gauges and such, and gradually phase the absurdity of the imperial measurement system out

However, I will give my opinions about Monsters University (because it doesn't get talked about enough). Great feel-good movie, excellent imagination and other than Finding Nemo, it's the only Pixar movie I can say I feel comfortable watching two times in a row.

While Google Chrome is my favorite web browser, Opera is a close second.

That reminds me:

-Finding Nemo is one of the worst movies Pixar ever made. The humor was incredibly juvenile, and the story gets old faster than other Pixar movies.

And

-Firefox is better than Chrome. Their speed is pretty close, and they are typically neck and neck in benchmark requirements, the minimalistic interface is a pain in the ass to use, a separate search box is better than a combined one, the tab organization options pale in comparison, the download interface is clunky, and there is a better add-on library.

On the topic of web browsers, the new version of Safari took back the crown of being the best, in my opinion. Performance got a big buff and the interface is simple and clean.

@brewsky That's good to hear. The full url not automatically being visible at the top of the window is one of the reasons I haven't upgraded to Yosemite yet.

Well, I can only think of how it relates to anime, which I guess is media so...

-I find most action shonen anime to be very uninteresting as a whole. I still think some of those series are just popular based off of pure luck and not necessarily cause they are really good.
-Add insult to injury, i fricking love romantic comedy anime. I have gotten a little more picky on my taste cause I watched a ton at this point but it's still my single favorite genre of manga/anime.
-I'm enjoying Gundam Reco even though it seems a sizable number of people don't really like it.

There are my weeb opinions.

  • Iron Man 3 is good.
  • The music in Frozen was bad.
  • The Huntress on Arrow is actually a fun character.
    Controversial Opinions
  • Man of Steel was good.
  • Inception wasn't confusing, and was a good movie.
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine was okay.

More opinions

  • Iron Man 3 was good
  • I own an iPhone 5c (Not really an opinion, but it starts arguments.)

  • Batman: The Animated Series isn't the best animated series ever. It's not even the best DC Animated series (That would be Young Justice), or the best DCAU series (that would be Batman Beyond). It's definitely a great show, but it's most definitely been overshadowed by now. The lack of a narrative thru-line and the lack of deep fully fleshed out characters really hurts it.
Actually, while we are on the topic, Justice League/Unlimited suffers from the same problem. Every character is pretty accurate to the source material, but we don't really see a lot of complexity in the characters. It's very obsessed with giving a dark and thorough story. Really the DCAU shows that really flesh out their characters the most are Static Shock and Batman Beyond. This is why Greg Weisman is so well regarded for his shows. Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider-man, and Young Justice all manage to deliver really developed and interesting characters with complex relationships, all within a dark and interesting storyline. Young Justice in particular is ridiculously good with this, managing to deliver a coherent narrative with character development in the second season with a team of over 15 people in only 20 30 minute episodes... excuse me while I go and rewatch Young Justice...
  • Isao Takahata is a better creator/director of anime film than Hayao Miyazaki. Grave of the Fireflies is just such an amazing film really yanking at the heart strings. Miyazaki's stuff is good, but not as powerful. I'm hyped to see The Tale of Princess Kaguya.
  • Oh and a few more. Orson Scott Card's Ender's Shadow series is far and away better than the main Ender's Game series. I think part of it comes down to Bean being a more interesting character than Ender, but beyond that, the Shadow series simply deals with a more familiar world and familiar characters. Jane, Novinha, and the Pequeninos are all interesting, sure, but they aren't the child protegies I had already grown to like.
  • Oh also, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the scariest book in the series. Maybe not the darkest, but it involves a tension-relief cycle of suspense that really turns the Basilisk into something incredibly spooky.

  • I liked the Green Lantern movie. It wasn't nearly as good as the Marvel films, but I liked it more than the Dark Knight trilogy.
  • While it is a really fun show, I don't think One Piece is particularly special. There are quite a few other Shonen series I've enjoyed more.
  • On the topic of anime, I really enjoyed InuYasha (in fact, it may be my favorite anime/manga series). It was popular during it's day, but unlike other popular anime of it's time (like Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc.) which have gone on to retain highly praised status in today's anime fandom, IY seems to be the only one from that era that hasn't (with opinions ranging from apathetic at best, to hatred at worst). I understand it does have it's rightful criticisms (and I'll admit I'm a bit nostalgic for it), but I think it still deserves a better legacy than it has gotten.
  • Not only do I not really care for the Dark Knight trilogy, I don't really like the 80's & 90's Batman movies either (in fact, I like them even less). The same goes for pretty much any movie Tim Burton is involved with too. I don't know what it is, but his style just doesn't click well with me.
  • My favorite film trilogy is the Back to the Future series, and Back to the Future part 2 is my favorite of the three (if only for the awesome future segment, which I like to call the Super 80's).

Some more:

  • Godzilla (2014) is the most powerful film in the series since the original Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It takes Godzilla back to it's roots as a metaphor for the possible dangers of harnessing nuclear power (which is a very powerful message after the Great Japan Earthquake of 2011, and the following events in Fukushima), focusing more on the destruction/effect on the human world, rather than a simple summer spectacle brawl between monsters.
  • I don't get the super fandom for Harry Potter. That's not to say it's not a good, well written series (because it is), but unlike other franchises with super fandom (like Star Wars, LotR, Star Trek, Marvel, etc.) there isn't one moment in HP that makes me think particularly, "That was cool". With those other things, I can see how someone could think they're cool, but not really with HP.
