I'm happy Sandra Bullock got best actress. Anyone who can portray Leigh Anne Tuohy deserves an award

Meryl Streep Was Snubbed! I have nothing against Sandra Bullock, but Meryl should have won. I was also hoping that Avatar and The Hurt Locker would split The vote, allowing Up to steal the show

Yeah, out of the nominees Up was the best, in my opinion. It's, pardon the cliche, an instant classic that will no doubt be cherished for generations to come--it also deals with deep subjects in a really incredible way, and it's the only movie I saw this year--besides Where the Wild Things Are--that I got a strong emotional response from.

Yes, the ending of Up's opening montage had me balling my eyes out. also why wasn't ponyo nominated for best animated feature, that movie was incredibly emotional and well done.

I gotta say, what a lame year for movies. The previous two years were utterly amazing. This year, meh. I could not care less about all the movies nominated for best picture. Also, why was Avatar up for best picture? It might look all neato and stuff, but, um, it was some weak ass storytelling. I hope we as americans can get our junk together and next year make some more amazing movies in the vein of The Wrestler, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, & Eastern Promises. (Ok, ok, Inglorious Bastards was good, but again, not Oscar worthy...or is is that the Oscars just totally suck now and the Academy can't be trusted to judge films in a non-bias way anymore...or did they ever...now I am confused!)

I found it funny when Ben Stiller looked like an avatar.

I didn't see Avatar and don't care to weigh in on that one, but I must say that the first 10 minutes of UP may just be the finest minutes in the history of animation, and I'm not throwing that around as mere hyperbole.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

I watched the Hurt Locker and Up in the Air today. They were both very good, but I must say I thought the Hurt Locker was a tad over-rated. It was a very interesting film and the cinematography was spectacular. Hell, the acting was good, too. But the way people were bashing Avatar's 'weak' narrative I was expecting the Hurt Locker to blow me away with some incredible story...but it didn't. It was very interesting, but surprisingly boring for a war movie (aside from a few very tense scenes: the scene where they're surrounded on that building with all those civilians with video cameras was brilliant) and to be quite frank there wasn't much of a story to speak of--but like I said, still a great film, just not sure if I liked it as much as Up or even Up in the Air.

Up in the Air was very well done. The script was great, the acting was great, the story was surprisingly relevant (even if it does turn into your typical rom-com by the end) and it was quite funny as well. However, there wasn't much style to it. Hurt Locker, Avatar, Up--they had a ton of directoral style. Up in the Air? Not so much.
