Old School (Pong to Donkey Kong Country)

New School (Super Mario 64 to the Present)

So which era of video gaming do you love more?

I'm going vote Old School. Something about 8 Bit and 16 Bit games makes me go bonkers!

Tough, Tough, TOUGH question. I absolutely love playing the classics but with today's technology making gameplay so realistic I really don't know...I'm gonna have to go with both =)

Remember the balance between ancient (art, magic, traditions) and new (science, technology, evolution) the Chozo lore talks about in Metroid Prime 3. I think that applies to everything, including this existencial dilema I used to trouble with, now I enjoy the same playing say Super Mario Galaxy than the first Space Invaders. But if I had to chose only one it would be Old School (Pong to Donkey Kong Country), since without this one the next would never have existed (At least not as it is now)

I'm amazed at how so many primitive games like "Adventure" and "Maze Craze" can still leave me spellbound!

New School barely wins due to the fact that everything changes for the better and I mean EVERYTHING!

I don't think everything changes for the better! The Star Wars Trilogy is waaaaaaaaay better than the more "advanced" Prequel Trilogy. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was in devolpment for 19 years and it could't compare to the first 3 movies that were all made and released in less than a single decade!!!!!!

I like them both if the N64 and PS era is considered new-school.

Indie Retro Revival School. If that's not an option, Old School.

Old school of coarse, but I think N64 is old enough for old school.

I think Super Mario 64 was the start of the current "modern" peroid of gaming with more of an emphasis on 3D lifelike gaming!

Adam always has a snappy comeback! I suppose hacksacking keeps your mind sharp. So when would you roughly say the Indie Retro Revival School movement started?

I am neutral I love how games have evolved but at the same time I miss how the 8 bit era was. Beat a game in 2 hours and you kept playing it. Nowadays if a game is not 10 hours or more people look at is at a disappointment. I still enjoy classics like Bionic Commando,Streets of Rage,Sonic the Hedgehog,Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World. Also I enjoy newer games like Mario Galaxy, Madworld,Okami,Tales of Symphonia,Final Fantasy 10,Halo 2 etc. etc. With the help of the VC and my Genesis I am still playing several hours a month of classic retro games. But with my newer consoles from the last decade I spend more time on them. But I cannot shake the great memories of Pac Man and Frogger. Next month been gaming 23 years since the age of 4.
