Topic: Ocarina of Time 3D - Censored?

Ok, first off - I'd like to direct you to this page.

Now, when I read this, my first thoughts were "What?, My games nothing like that." And it isn't; my OoT 3D is just as gory as the N64 original, in every way, nothings changed.

So, do any of you have a game similar to the one discussed above^?
And if so, why do some of us have it, and others don't?

I'd be horrified if my Shadow Temple and Dead Hand lost all their darkness. Especially if the Dead Hand looked like that^ thing.

ok, i see what ur saying. My copy of Oot3d, the dead hand didn't look like jelly. He looked almost exactly like the N64 one, but a bit smoother

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know

Yeah, the Dead Hand in my copy is still white with the bloody patches on it as well (not the "slime" looking one shown in that second screenshot).

Maybe only newer prints of the game have the altered content? Maybe it's only altered in certain territories? Maybe this story in general is a hoax (this is the first time I've heard of it)?

It's not really that easy to notice unless you pay close attention to detail. I didn't even notice the blood missing or how the Dead Hand appears to be different. I still think the Shadow Temple and the Well are still pretty dang dark, considering the music and atmosphere are still relatively unchanged.

From what I remember, they just made the blood more realistically dark. Because you know, old blood dries brown.

I don't remember the dead hand being jellyish.

Well unless you get an original gold edition OoT on the N64 with the original Fire Temple music, moon symbol on the shield and all that like I have, then all you have are censored versions.

Yeah, realistically speaking blood does not stay red for long after being outside of the body.

It wasn't just the gold cartridges. I have a gray cartridge that have all the features that were censored in later versions of the game.

That's odd, I swore I saw an episode of Pop Fiction (on Gametrailers YouTube channel) where they proved that the chanting was removed from the game before any versions of the game hit store shelves (not sure about the other content, like blood).

Interestingly enough, they pointed out that that exact same chanting sound byte was also included (and can be much more clearly heard) in Cruis'n World's Egypt track, yet no one seemed to raise a stink about it there.

A lot of changes involving the controversy weren't made until version 1.2 came out on the N64. As for the Fire Temple music fix never been released, it is obviously false because it was in v1.0 and v1.1. However, if you strictly speaking of the PAL version of OoT, then it is true, because PAL never got v1.0 or 1.1, just v1.2, which already had the music change.

If you got one of the first batch of gold OoT cartridges the chanting was in it.

...Anybody have a screen of the Dead Hand on the 3DS. It could be possible the jello hand is in a different region. Just guessing, but yeah he doesn't look like it in mine.

If you have a v1.0 or v1.1 cart, then it has the chanting.

Every gold cart will have it, since most gold carts have v1.0. If not, then it's v1.1. There are no gold v1.2 carts.
Most gray carts have v1.1. But some also have v1.0 and v1.2.
All Player's Choice carts are v1.2
All PAL carts are v1.2

Sadly, I'm not close to one in my current save game.
I'm gonna try a post-dodongos cavern glitch, that should let me in the well early. (Yeah, this is my thing now X))

mmk, yeah the only thing I know that's "censored" in the 3DS game is the blood Ganondorf coughs up at the end. (and the Fire Temple theme)

Ah is that what it was. I wasn't sure I just figured that some of the Gold ones did cause mine did.

That was also a change that was made in v1.2. v1.0 and v1.1 had red blood. v1.2 and every rerelease after had green.

I remember having a gray cart version of the game without the fire temple chant (maybe? Can't really remember), but with Ganondorf spitting red blood.

And the awesome original Gerudo emblem.

Okay, I rewatched that episode of Pop Fiction, and I was indeed mistaken with my earlier comment.

It wasn't that the chanting wasn't included in earlier versions (it was), but that it was revealed that Nintendo didn't change it due to backlash (rather, they changed it so there wouldn't be one in the future).

Interestingly enough, in addition to the chanting being in early copies of OoT, it was included in Cruis'n World (with no backlash), and in an Xbox fighting game (which was recalled due to backlash) as well.

Additionally, Nintendo didn't create the sound effect. Rather, it's part of a collection of sound bytes (that you can still to this day purchase in digital form) that they regularly use when coming up for Zelda music. Various samples were used in OoT, MM, & TP (Including African tribal songs that were included in both the Forest Temple & Woodfall Temple).
