Topic: O_B Thread (Reading His Novels)

I'm really against double posting, but O_B I was just wondering, did you forget about this or what? I really want to read your book!!

It's only been one day! But I appreciate your interest. I have mailed you the first part of the requested novel. Enjoy!

I've started reading a few pages O_B, I can't comment yet on story development, characters, etc -- but I just wanted to let you know that there are some minor edits that can be done to make it better. Mostly it is redundant sentences, and just cutting certain words or phrases out. It has been edited pretty well already, but a bit of clipping will actually make the story move faster.

Also, I just assume all the characters are Japanese from their names, but you should try to give them distinctive features when you introduce them. Maybe research what types of clothes they would probably wear (that would make sense to an assassin -- such as stuff they can run in or elude detection). Make their weapons more distinct, these are weapons that they have murdered demons with, so they probably have dried blood and rust on the blades, and probably require frequent sharpening and cleaning. You have the basics written already, you just need to add some good, specific descriptions, which will start to open up your universe. I'll have more ideas as I continue to read.

I will read it through first, and I can do some "light" editing if you want and then email it back to you (if you wish). So far though, the idea is interesting.

I welcome any and all input.

Hey, O_B. i've definitely been slacking, i know. go ahead and send me part 2. i've liked your story thus far. good ideas. i have a few thoughts, but from what i hear around this thread, you seem to fix a lot of things as you go, so i'll hold for now. one thing i will recommend, though is that you consider at least a revision as far as character names. maybe shortening some of them. especially in the beginning, all the japanese names are hard to pronounce mentally for the average reader, which makes them hard to remember.

Terra recently finished Book2, part2 and I sent him part3 of 3. So he's almost done with book2.
Anyone else made some progress?

I really can't comment yet as I've only read the first two chapters
So far I like the characters and look forward to the rest of it...I just haven't read much in a while, and when I do read, it's The Book of The Long Sun (I'm on book 3 of 4). I just can't seem to get away from that little world... I highly recommend reading The Book of The New Sun if you like science fiction/fantasy books, but only if you're prepared for a very hard read. Probably the most advanced books I've ever read, I am a new fan of this author. But...his books aren't for everyone...

Kudos to Terra for finishing book2!
His feedback amused me, especially that one of his cons was that I killed off a character he liked.
I'll be sending the first part of book 3 (the last of the trilogy, obviously) shortly. I am also in the midst of editting my 4th (unrelated) book, and then that will be available to read as well. (Target for that is now late this month or April.)

The rift that forms after said death was something I wanted to focus on in book 3, and its one of many things that is kind of a catalyst for the ending I was shooting for. Hope you like the conclusion.

Yep part 2 of Pierre. I think that was what it was called, its been way too long. Certainly an interesting tale, that`s for sure.

As for Pierre,I think I'm officially considering it dead at this point. Regrets to those who liked it, I may come back to it someday but the trilogy omnibus, Elf, and two upcoming novels take precedence over it. I only had maybe half a book going with Pierre and don't know where I'd go from there. It's been nearly a year, so...
