I'm in Aww of how good this games looks on the 3ds!! I know not all have the option to play this version but I highly recommend in the future picking up this game. It seems like the animation has also been bumped up quit a bit as well. Colors jump right off the screen and the towns people seem more real then before.

Now on to the game itself. I'm just about ready to enter the second dungeon but on this play through I really want to take my time and explore every inch I can. So far I believe I've done pretty much all I can do to this point! The game really opens up when you use the temple of time. Still aways off from that. Aiming with the gyro scope is fun and easy. The lay of the land is more beautiful then ever and the music and sounds are great!! Ill get some real time on this soon.

So it's a given that there will spoilers in this thread, right? OK then...

I'm gonna have to send in my 3DS for repairs soon because the way I washed the screen screwed-up the 3D effect, but that hasn't stopped me from beating the Deku Tree, learning Zelda's Lullaby and Epona's Song, and looking for Saria in the Lost Woods without any luck before I head to Death Mountain.

I think now i can finally give my first thoughts about the game itself, the Kokiri Village, the Lost Woods and the first dungeon.

So far I really like how everything feels so straight forward. The introduction isn't very long, still makes you curious, tells you what to do first very well and puts you directly into the action. Same goes for the "tutorials" and the first dungeon. Heck it doesn’t even force you to master all of the sword- and shielplay before you go into the first dungeon.

The most impressive thing about all the places and people yet is that the art direction doesn’t want to show off either. It all seems kind of natural, not too flashy. But still exciting enough to have your fun and inviting you to explore everything quite a bit. To me it’s very consistent and fitting for a fairytale that seems to put much emphasis on nature.

The first dungeon brought back memories how hard it was to figure out the puzzles back in 2003 when this was one of the first 3D Zeldas I played. The graphics didn’t help it either I’d say.

Further thoughts

  • The owl looks much better in the 3DS version.
  • I like how you can take a glitch-look into big treasure chests and see nothing in 'em.
  • Many of the boys in the village look exactly the same while all girls look different. Except for the twins of course.
  • Most often I can’t nail the last note in the Ocarina-playing minigame.
  • Following the noise of the Golden Skulltullas and finally finding 'em is very fun.
  • The chubby arms and hands of Link make him look like a baby.
  • I really love the Oktoroks.
  • Where are the parents of the Kokiri ? Is the Deku Tree their father figure ?

So for now that’s all I have to say about that first main part / place of the game.

Random thoughts: Part 2:
The gyroscope aiming works surprisingly well, it's all really accurate
Some of the people in Hyrule town are still a bit stiffly animated, but I guess that's in spirit of the original.
I never really got into this game when it came out on the Collector's edition. I just never "got" how the game thinks. As in, for some of the less obvious puzzles, the solutions I thought up in my head were (and still are) completely different from what they were in reality. For some reason, this is the only Zelda game where I've had this problem. That's not to say I'm not enjoying it, because I am, very much so, but I find myself wandering around for ages with no idea what I should do.
At the moment, I'm in Jabu-Jabu and Princess Ruto is irritating to say the least. Whenever I throw her into a wall, she just dies/disappears!
Kaepora Gaebora is my hero.
The fishing mini-game is stunning. Pretty absorbing too, I spent ages trying to catch the biggest fish.
The Zoras are actually kind of creepy. And why does the Zora King take about five minutes to shuffle over on that ledge!? That was...odd.
I love the boomerang.
I hate the ReDead. Once they're nibbling your brains, is there any way to get them off? Stupid zombies.
I must have missed about twenty heart pieces already.
FIN.
EDIT: By the way, how does a person go about doing bullet points around here? With this stream of consciousness they would probably help.

@LTD Well I have a list of everyone who registered for the email announcements but that doesn't mean they're taking part in the OoT playthrough. I don't ask people to confirm if they're joining beforehand. If they are then they'll turn up in this thread eventually. The clubs usually gather steam mid-way through so not to worry.

@Jango-Forest I totally understand wandering around trying to figure out what to do! However I'm really enjoying that aspect of the game because it makes it feel much more like an adventure game than something linear.

Ok, I'm going to pick this game up today!! A little late I see, but I had to finish Okami before I moved on. Also, this is my first time playing Ocarina of Time on any platform, so I'm super excited. Glad to see the Club up and about again.

How this game has gotten even better I just don't know. I mean it was my favorite game ever anyways, but now........WOW
It looks so beautiful , controls better ,sounds better ,Gyro aiming is awesome ( ithought I'd hate it ) and it just feels like the original game was designed for 3D.
I'm literally just about to enter the Water Temple ,having done the Forest and Fire temples. Can't wait to get to the end and start all over again in MasterQuest with a fresh challenge.
It really has blown me away!! Worth the price of the 3DS alone IMO. (And I already own 4 copies of this game LOL!)

What's this bit for again?

Knux

I have been playing this game like no tomorrow since I have obtained Ocarina of Time 3D last Sunday. The updated graphics are awesome, and the touch screen inventory is very useful. I am currently in the Lost Woods heading toward the Forest Temple.

Ah-ah what’ve we here?
Didn’t expect you to all replay a game you already have.
Maybe becasue of the 3DS poor line-up of games!
What a complete waste of time.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Oh dear, what can i say ?
Entering the town of Hyrule makes the 3DS version shine the first time for me. The drawbridge and the houses look breathtakingly beautiful. The people are very joyful and it feels more like a freakshow / funfair than a place where people actually live. In the GC version it seemed overwhelming to me. Yesterday it just felt great.
And what can i say about the first meeting with Princess Zelda ... It's just so touching to see her sorrow, optimism, joy and kindness. Her reactions when you say no are nearly heartbreaking too.

further thoughts (first visit to Hyrule)

  • Malon is soo adorable. Which is astounding since a disturbed Mario is her father.
  • In the temple and some houses the 3D really begins to shine.
  • The puppy-finding-sidequest was easier than i first thought.
  • After some rounds of the Treasure Chest minigame i remembered that later there might be a way to guarantee you're winning. Got my doubts about it though.
  • Being called a loser after you've just doubled your stake seems strange.
  • Why do you always have to walk though all the treasure chambers you found a key in earlier ?
  • Got a few problems with the slingshot minigame first but could handle it easily with a little practice and without motion controls.
  • It sucks that when loading you always have to begin in your treehouse again.
  • The option to take photos would have been great.
  • The map screen could benefit from being able to take notes yourself.

No your right about the treasure chest game wait till much later in the game. However there is a set number of patterns that will work but its still mostly luck!

I'm using them to help me remember any gold skulltulas I can't reach for later in the game!

@LTD Oh, I'm in, I've just been too busy playiing to tell you, sorry xD

Okay, well I just bested Phantom Ganon, and I actually love that boss now. D:
As is typical in a Zelda game, I love th ebow and arrow, and the gyroscope aiming makes it even funner than the Wii version of Twilight Princess's bow and arrow gameplay, which I absolutely loved.
Also, I got the Adult wallet, and just wanted to say that I don't like upgrading your wallet. The handheld Zelda games are better in that regard imo.

Silly me. I didnt go in the underwater cave in the zora domain because i thought is was just a port to the forest. Forgot all about the letter in the bottle. Also the zora kings move animation is kinda scary!!

I got stuck at Twinrova. I can't even damage her and she kills me quickly because her attacks do mega damage.

Yeah... I suck at Zelda bosses.
