Yay! Maybe I'll get further than just the first boss this time!! I'd really like to hear other people's strategies at this, since mine obviously don't work.
Before we begin discussion we should decide on what counts as a spoiler for this game? Plot points? Boss and area names? Strategies? Villager types?
I got past the first boss without too much trouble last time. I didn't make it to the second one though. This time I'm going for completion!
He's no pushover but I beat him by bringing a full group of combat townspeople. He does take a while to bring down so you need to be careful with your maneuvering. I assigned the ones with the highest HP as soldiers and rained arrows down on him too. When you see him charging up his attack, immediately get all of your soldiers to retreat back to you. There was more to my strategy but I can't remember anymore. I'm sure I'll remember when I get to him though.
Good to know. I think the most difficult thing for me was trying to decide who to bring with me when I go conquering stuff, and how many of each I'd need. And figuring out where to go.
As for spoilers, since this whole thread is dedicated to the discussion of the game, wouldn't it be safe to say that every post would have some sort of spoiler element to it? Could we just say in the first post "this thread may contain spoilers"?
First time players will have to avert their eyes from the whole thread though. I know we have some folks who bought the game especially for the club. I'd like it if they could play and join the discussion without the worry of discovering something important that they won't want to know about beforehand. I don't want to be too fussy about it either though.
I think major plot points and boss strategies should be marked. Can't really think of anything else that would count as a spoiler. What do you think?
@RetroRich@Vaynard Yep, everyone who joins must start a new save file. It wouldn't make sense to continue an old one for the club. And time sure flies, huh? I'll be starting my game this weekend. Let you guys know how it goes soon.
And does Howser the Bull Knight freak anyone else out? But his bull Pancho is awesome.
Gonna start playing tonight or tomorrow. It's just that I got Bit.Trip Runner yesterday, and I've been playing it obsessively ever since. Looking forward to finally play LKS, though.
I started playing it yesterday, but I'm loving it so far. I've never actually played Pikmin but I'm pretty sure that's the kind of vibe I'm getting from this game.
Wait a minute, new file? Oh, that is so lame. I'm only past the 2nd boss!
Ha noob i got to the 3rd boss cause only the cool cats can get that far, but seriously id be happy to try it over again but right this time so tomorrow (today) imma wipe the dust of the case and pop that sucker in
I got a sexy deep v-neck and I'm not afraid to use it XD
I think they have this at the GameStop store here, if they do, I'll get it at the start of next week and join in.

I have never started a thread on NL. Maybe I'm scared of dragons and chickens.

gotta say i played this game earlier and i think im better at it then i was before, i think the constant rpgs ive been playing mightve helped me become patient and learn to not be annoyed by killing monsters for loot, money, equipment, etc.

I've been playing this non-stop, it's incredibly addicting.
SPOILERS
I just got what I think is supposed to be the third princess, the fat one, but it's actually only my second. I'm having trouble getting enough money to do much of anything, and I suspect the merchants would help, but I don't have enough money to buy the building to train them.
Yeah, the merchant building is a killer on your resources but they help immensely if you can get them.
I played a little so far and it's interesting that in my second playthrough I slipped right into the "hunt around randomly for treasure and monsters" routine really fast. I made over 1 million on my second day from treasure hunting so I didn't need to hunt the third day at all. It's surprising how rewarding and fun the menial tasks in this game are! Sometimes I don't want to advance the story, I just want to explore and expand my kingdom's economy, lol.
i think i did something wrong because i havent gotten any quests from the suggestion box since i started except for guardian quests (killed the first guardian with 3 soldiers and 2 farmers on my first try XD) anyone know why

I started like 30 mins ago and that will be it tonight. Im up to day 3 and need to build a town square. I can see what you mean about the economy business HM. Although i cant seem to open some of those balloon things. Its like I can only actually go so far on the map and there are a load of balloons behind some trees but I canna get to them. Anyone know why ?
