Topic: Nintendo World Store Launch Events?

I've noticed that the Nintendo World store in New York has had launch events for major game releases. I live somewhat near there and was thinking of attending them. Has anyone been to a game launch there before? If so, I have a few questions:

How much time do you spend waiting in line? I saw a video of the launch for Super Mario 3D World and saw a long line, but I'd like to know how much time is spent waiting.

Do you preorder the game there? Do you have to if you want to get the game at launch?

Have you ever gotten any extras/preorder bonuses from there?

I'm actually curious if the Nintendo World store is fully stocked with Amiibos or do they have the same Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, & Donkey Kong figures that my local Target has?

I've only been to the Pokemon events... It's hectic. Each year the lines get longer and longer and by that point it's not even worth going to the midnight releases unless you line up a day before since they seem to sell out before the line finishes. Sometimes they hand out gifts to people online but they're not much. During the day its fine though.

I can answer those questions. It's only a 30-60 train ride from where I live/work so I go there fairly often.

I attended a few launch event there, not the triple launch event last week though since by the time I reach the store after work, the limited edition items was sold out and the line was around the whole block, there was a lot of nice cosplay outfits though. This lead to my answer in which you will have to wait hours if you want to get any limited edition items. Some people wait +8 hours prior to event to get those rare ones. Also it varies on what game it is and if it includes a LE game or not.

You can preorder games there but in case preorder are sold out and you missed it (mainly LE), you can still get it at launch. Keep in mind they alway have enough of the standard games in stock.

They always have prizes and giveaways at these event. I remember for the Pokemon OR/AS event they were giving out those small Groudon and Kyogre of you buy one or both of the Pokemon games (whichever match with the version) and you didn't need a preorder for it. Matter of fact there's a Kirby and the Rainbow event this Saturday which will have games, prizes, and giveaways.

Hope this answer all your questions Pokemario

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

As for the Amiibo part dkxcalibur, I checked yesterday and they only have the common amiibo like mario and kirby at the moment. They do get some of the rarer ones including stock exclusives in stock from time to time, but they sell out fast once word spread around the have in stock.

Of course the one Pokemon launch event I don't go to, they actually give out something cool.

Thanks for the heads up. It would have been nice if they had some of the rarer figures in stock but I'm heading there tomorrow anyways. I'm sure I'll find lots of other great Nintendo stuff to buy! It will be my first visit.

I visited the store on Saturday night. We had a blast! Although I have mixed feelings about the store in general. I was a little disappointed that the Nintendo World Store's overall inventory was lacking. Okay, they had an awesome selection of shirts and plush Nintendo characters (we bough some of each) but we couldn't buy a Nintendo stock 3DS stylus and as ultraraichu said above, they only had common amiibo in stock. They had two Fox figures behind the register on hold but other then that only Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, DK, Diddy, Kirby, Zelda, pikachu, Samus & Link. They did have one of each on display in a central showcase on the second floor. My boys went crazy and then I told them that this will be the closest they get to seeing Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Pit, and some of the rare figures.....sad (thanks scalpers!) I really thought they would have had more Nintendo or Nintendo World Store exclusives.

The statues of DK, Pikmin, and Pikachu were awesome. The DK was the best! The mini museum in the corner on the second floor was really cool. My highlight was seeing the famous blown up Gameboy from Desert Storm still working. i remember reading about it in Nintendo Power as a boy. Also, we were able to check out some games that we never played before.
