@TheMonadoSenpai: Sorry dude, but I don't think "dog friends" are reliable sources. Given the recent trend of releases, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of Nintendo's employees are incompetent canines.

Currently bored (while change when I stop being bored)

What are the chances Nintendo gives amiibo support to their Mobile games? I'm not sure how available NFC is on smartphones/tablets, but I believe it's not all that common. I think amiibo support for the mobile games would be an excellent move, but with many downloads coming from a wide variety of devices, I don't think they would want to cut off features like that for certain people and I doubt they would want to sell a mobile NFC reader.

Currently Playing: SMITE, ROTTR, Halo 5: Guardians (XB1), Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2 (3DS)

It's also possible that they could get the Gamecube original to run natively. Which would be better then VC, from a technical / performance standpoint.

It's much more likely like that, because the Wii mode of the Wii U is able to load and start GameCube games natively. Of course, there is the issue of the controller, but I think that a patch to support the GameCube controller should be useful for Wii mode anyway.

I'm surprised it took that long for that rumor to come up on this thread to be honest.

Was easily one of the most popular theories peddled by the people who had uncles who worked at Nintendo. Along with the one about wild Bulbasaurs and Charmanders being in the grass at either side of Pallet Town.

Isn't that investor's meeting or whatever this week? I wouldn't be surprised if the Club Nintendo successor and first mobile game are talked about.

The earnings release is on Wednesday and the results briefing would be within the following two days.

How long does maintenance usually take because this one is scheduled for 6 hours?

Why is it called a Start button, when it stops the game?

(....OK it does actually start it, but, still.)

because start/pause starts/pauses the game

More rumors emerge!

Apparently the first mobile game will not be based on Mario. Nintendo could be saving its bigger IPs for next year, so one could count out Zelda and Metroid for the first mobile game as well.

Not too much was said. Which means it's not too good to be true. Who knows, maybe this one is right?

Yeah, I think anyone who was expecting a full Mario or Zelda game on mobile was kidding themselves. So I wouldn't at all be surprised if they're using some other IP. I've thought for quite a while that something like Advance Wars would be the best fit. But a mobile friendly take on Animal Crossing, Pikmin or NES classics like Excitebike, Balloon Fight could also work.

@skywake: Most people were still expecting the IP used to be Mario, even if it isn't a full game (though I'm sure a full Mario game or a Super Mario Maker Lite was expected by the shareholders/investors, so they might not be happy).

For it to not be Mario or any of their big gun IP? Then that means something like Rhythm Heaven or WarioWare. If this is true, then Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Kirby, and Fire Emblem are thrown out of the window until next year. Do Nintendogs and Brain Age still count as big guns?

It also shows Nintendo's taking a slow burn approach.
