This is the saddest news I have heard all day. Being only 14 years old I wasn't able to experience a lot of the things other people have done or played that were made by Mr. Iwata. Though I have had many fun times since I took up a notice to him, such as the tropical freeze bananas to the "directly" meme which everyone uses. I just feel like the community began to give him much hate in the past few months with some choices he's made and the effects of E3 around Nintendo. I always supported him though through his decisions. I also hope that I and other people will still continue to appreciate the various games he produced or helped create. May your name at the end of game credits always be remembered. R.I.P Satoru Iwata

@TylerTheCreator: To be fair, Iwata has taken a few along the Wii U road, so you can't really blame people for complaining. But that doesn't really mean I like when people complain him over an over everytime he is mentioned. I can agree with everything else you said though, Iwata really did seem like he had a a great passion for games and nobody can say other wise. And most of all he did try to make everyone happy, making jokes and skits like that Reggie vs Iwata fight last E3 and the puppets in the latest E3. Iwata in general seen like a really nice man with good meaning, he was always so happy and cheery. That just made his death more devastating in my opinion, but to brighten up the sad mood here's a cute gif of Iwata.

@RyuNiiyama Thank you.
I'm really glad I'm not having this thought of disgust, too. Worst part, some illogical people are still disrespecting Nintendo. I mean, what the hell? Is it too much to ask for the setting aside of differences and just honor Iwata? If you never enjoyed any of his works, then you're probably not approaching videogames of any kind properly.

Still finding this hard to believe. It's just such sudden news... But I know that Iwata was a hard worker, and even though the past few years have been tough, he can finally rest now.

I'll really miss seeing his smiling face in the directs. I wasn't his biggest fan as a CEO, but he had fun with his job and was always dedicated to Nintendo as a whole. He cared about what the fans thought, even if he didn't always go in the directions we wanted. He made immeasurable contributions to the industry and he shouldn't have left so young.

Surprisingly Sony actually thanked Iwata for everything on their Twitter account. Very nice of them.

@Aromaiden: I'm not surprised. Sony has no bad blood with Iwata and even disregarding the bad PR that would follow being a meanie to the recently deceased, much of the gaming indistry owes a lot to Nintendo, past AND present.

I was totally stunned to see the headline just a few moments ago (been off the internet pretty much all day). It's still at that point where the sadness of the situation hasn't quite hit me yet, as I'm still in that moment of pure shock.

The Wii was my big reintroduction to Nintendo after skipping out on the GCN in favor of the PS2, and that little white box of his gave me some of my most fondest gaming memories of all time (I still remember how much in awe I was when I first experienced SMG at a demo kiosk, and it's something I'll never forget).

I pray that God may bless his soul, and that he'll be able to rest in peace. You'll be missed Mr. Iwata.

OK... this is pretty crazy, and I think it's just coincidence, but...
Yesterday afternoon, I developed nausea. Strong one, at that. The nausea trailed onto today... from 12am to the very moment I heard of the news. My body felt weird... then I noticed the nausea went away.
Maybe my mind sensed the bad news and made my stomach uneasy... until my mind heard the news directly...

It's been a few hours since I read the news and I'm still stunned. I'm almost speechless.

Jim Sterling just made a video that did bring something important up: Satoru Iwata is one of the rare gaming executives, that would mention how important "fun" is for games, and that really sums up my continued appeal towards Nintendo in the past 3 years. Fun.

At first I was just sad and surprised, but once I saw tweets from Geoff Keighley, Sony and many others the weight of what happened finally hit me. Truth be told it made me cry, and I bawled my eyes out just listening to Earthbound music for a few hours. I'm not entirely sure why this has affected me quite like it has, but I do know that the gaming world will not be the same without him.

I went to GameXplain's channel a few hours ago to see if they had uploaded any new videos, and the first thing I saw was a video thumbnail saying "R.I.P. Iwata". I stared at my screen for a moment before clicking on the video because I couldn't believe it. It never even crossed my mind that he would pass this soon. Death is not really a subject I consider myself "good" at talking about, but I'd like to get my thoughts out there about Nintendo under Iwata's leadership:

I've only followed Nintendo news closely for about three years now, so I haven't seen many of Nintendo's public figures as much as others have. My first actual memory of Iwata wasn't even seeing him in a Nintendo direct, but a cartoon representation of him in WarioWare on the GBA. I don't care if anybody reading this post doesn't understand why people are so sad about this. Many of my favorite games have been released under Iwata's leadership, and the company still manages to make games that excite me to this day. The man played an important role in so many fond gaming memories I have that it's hard to imagine this company without him. Even though Nintendo has struggled in recent years, I was never too disappointed because they still made the kind of games that made me pick up a controller in the first place. I loved the DS, the Wii, the 3DS, and even the Wii U during the few months I've owned one. I hope whatever gaming platform Nintendo releases in the future can reach a larger audience, so that more people can fall in love with their games again. R.I.P. Iwata.
