May God have mercy on his soul.

Iwata was a good man. He just wanted to bring a smile to the face of everyone who played video games. And he did exactly that, right up to his final days...

Iwata was a wonderful man no matter what the circumstance. He always had a smile on his face. Even though the past few weeks were tough for him my only hope is that he managed to die peacefully. It's hard to even think that he is gone now. All those directs, all those credits and all those lovely phrases. He will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Iwata. And may your legacy live on in the hearts of all gamers.

I'm seriously crying right now. This man MADE my childhood with gaming. And at 55....the world is so harsh with the best people it has.

Rest in peace Iwata... I never knew you; I never met you. I don't know who you are as a person. But what I do know is that you brought me joy every time you were on screen in a Direct or on the stage at E3. Know now that your face will be remembered not only by your loved ones, but also as a symbol of joy and excitement to the video game community at large. You are irreplaceable, and you will be remembered.

Oh man I took one 30 minute nap and wake up to this. This is really sad. I grieve for his family.

I'm going to be ducking out from Nintendo communities for a while. Iwata pretty much represented everything I loved about Nintendo. I'm not sure where they are going from here.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

This was very sudden, Nintendo Directs will never be the same without him. May he rest in peace now, he has done a lot for both Nintendo and the community.

I'm not lazy! ...I'm just very forgetful. :|

I'm a mixed bag right now. I'm distraught over his death. Suspicious as to how sudden it was(secretly bile duct cancer?). Angry that this might be what the old guard might have needed/wanted as well as others who called for his resignation. Nintendo is currently a ship without a navigator. I kind of hope Miyamoto throws his hat into the candidate list of possible CEOs.

...No, no, no... This has to be fake... ._. Oh for the love of god, it isn't fake... Goodbye Iwata-san, Wii will miss U. ;n;

He's in the clouds now, he found the secret vine.

It's surprising how many clues were left about his declining health, yet Nintendo made sure no one found out about how bad it really was. Rest in peace.

That's the most likely cause.

However, I think it would be naive to think they (his close coworkers and family) did not know about his health state, Nintendo's codirectors have probably been at the helm for quite a while now.

I expect the next Nintendo Direct will either skip the 'directly to you' part or include a moment of silence.
