There are numerous properties that Nintendo could adapt as either television shows or as movies. While I know Nintendo is not quite keen on the media adaptations, I think that if the right people are behind these shows and movie adaptations that it will fair well.
Kirby, Mario and The Legend of Zelda have all had television series back in the 1980’s and 90’s while more recently Animal Crossing had a feature movie in Japan which is now on you tube.com with English subtitles.
I truly believe that Star Fox is long overdue both a feature length movie and an animated television series on Cartoon Network. I’d love to see Animal Crossing get a comic strip in the national newspapers similar to the comic strip that Over The Hedge has in the newspapers along with a 15 minute weekly TV show similar to the Star Wars Clone Wars micro-series by Genddy Tartakovsky for Cartoon Network.
Of course The Legend of Zelda has been way overdue a movie as IGN made good use of with their legendary The Legend of Zelda April Fool’s Day movie trailer prank. I think that Andrew Adamson, M. Night Shyamalanand the teams behind The Chronicles of Narnia and Avatar: The Last Airbender movies could deliver spectacular The Legend of Zelda and Kid Icarus movies. It would also be nice if Nintendo would launch another The Legend of Zelda television show with the people behind Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender handling the animation and art and all. Then of course there is Kid Icarus. After seeing the Nintendo 3D Kid Icarus: Uprising I know with a fact Kid Icarus would make a spectacularly wonderful animated TV series if the creators and animators of Ben10 and Marvel’s Hulk vs. Thor handled the animation and art and the technical aspects of it. It would also be nice if Nintendo/ Level 5 gave Professor Layton an animated TV show and manga comic adaptations as well.
Mind you, the animated TV show adaptations that I speak of would all be animated via tradition animation mixed with CGI as in Avatar The Last Airbender, Naruto, Bleach and Green Lantern: First Flight and not total CGI as in the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars series that George Lucas has created. I find CGI animated TV programs and movies to be overly prevent these days.
I would also like to see Donkey Kong and Captain F-Zero get animated television shows, Collectible Trading Card Games and comic books as well.
However, here is how my most wanted list stacks up:
Star Fox movie adaptation and animated TV series: 10 Stars/ Highly Wanted
Well my friends, I received a very positive letter from Nintendo in responce to my e-mail to them. From what it said, I gather we can expect television shows from Nintendo's IP's but not movies, at lest not anytime soon.

A Legend of Zelda movie would be the coolest and worst thing ever, I would fall for it and get really excited and then I would watch it and hate it and just leaving being sad.

You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I would also like to see F-Zero get animated television shows
It did. Do better research.

Hello, Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in seeing many movies or animated series of our games. As you already know, Nintendo is not involved in the motion picture industry. Having said that, movies based on video games get made all the time.
Making movies can take a long time, but it all starts with buying the rights to make the movie. This means that if someone wants to make a movie based on one of Nintendo's games, that person would pay the company for that exclusive right over a set period of time (sometimes many years). This can happen before one word of a script is written or an actor is cast. Sometimes the movie gets made, but sometimes the time period runs out before anything substantial happens.
I haven't heard of any plans for a big-screen version of the games that you mentioned, but you never know what the future may hold, so keep your fingers crossed, including animated series.
As for trading cards, comic books, or other merchandise, these products are not normally produced by Nintendo, but rather by licensee companies. For more details, please visit the following link:
Nothing about that e-mail suggests that "we can expect television shows from Nintendo's IP's but not movies." All it says is that it is physically possible if an animation studio wanted to.

Well I do believe that we can expect an animated television show with the letter stating: "I haven't heard of any plans for a big-screen version of the games that you mentioned, but you never know what the future may hold, so keep your fingers crossed, including animated series."
I've learned that 8 times out of 10 when someone from Nintendo says they are NOT doing something or " there are no plans" that they are exactly working on what they say they are not. That's my opinon at lest.

It's mostly their nice way of saying no without crushing your hopes and dreams.
Also, not sure if anyone remembers the DK Country CG animated show, but if I recall correctly it was pretty much garbage.
That is ture Panda. They could indeed be saying no as they don't want to repeat the disaster that the Super Mario Brothers movie was. However I'm not familar with the Donkey Kong television series. The old Legend of Zelda cartoon was very good and I'd be more than willing to give Nintendo the chance to redeem themselves with new media adaptions of their properties.
I did like the Animal Crossing movie which is available on youtube.com with English sub titles. I really hope that Nintendo will work with the animators of Marvel's Hulk vs. Thor and Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender to create animated television shows of Star Fox, Yoshi Island, Super Mario Galaxy, A Kappa's Trail and of course The Legend of Zelda. With the right people they can indeed do a marvelous job.
It would also be nice if WayForward did create animated television shows out of Shantae and Might Flip Champs. Shantae might even do better if not just as well as Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teen Titans! And that's saying something coming from a loyal fan of Cartoon Network's Teen Titans.
A Legend of Zelda movie would be the coolest and worst thing ever, I would fall for it and get really excited and then I would watch it and hate it and just leaving being sad.
What does THAT remind me of?
Oh yeah. And despite what it says on the box, it definitely was not a blast.
