Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has confirmed interest in a Nintendo x Capcom fighter. At the Nintendo 3DS conference in Amsterdam yesterday, Cubed3 attended Ono-san's roundtable session and managed to ask the key question: "Considering you are trying to make Street Fighter IV 3DS accessible to a wider audience, did you ever think about including Nintendo characters to broaden the appeal?"

Rather than brushing the question off completely, instead Ono-san reacted very positively, saying he would like to make a Nintendo x Capcom fighting game and that the idea should be pitched to Nintendo of Japan and Masahiro Sakurai.

Would you like to see Nintendo x Capcom become a reality?

It would probably be like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom with Nintendo characters instead of Tatsunoko characters than anything like Super Smash Bros.

Yeah that's what I imagine it would be like as well. I can imagine some great characters being involved, such as Link, Samus, Little Mac, Your Mii, Ganondorf, Bowser, Prof Layton...

I have so much trouble imagining how Mario and Luigi could fit in though, I'm not sure why but they are a weird shape and I think they would look awkward when fighting?

I'd buy it day one... but they better include Dante, Amaterasu, and Chris. After skipping them in Tatsunoko, but putting them in MvC3, I'll be ticked if they're missing.

Smash Bros. is much more accessible than the Vs. games so I don't think Nintendo would be too keen on a totally hardcore fighter featuring their beloved characters since it might turn of some consumers.

Smash Bros is perhaps the only prominent Nintendo series that I hate; too floaty and awkward compared to other fighting games. So, I might enjoy a crossover, but only if the fighting itself is more akin to Capcom's games.

Funny how Street Fighter was the game everybody was playing back in the early nineties; it literally sold the Super Nintendo for a time. The series is not really any different now other than some more special moves and much better graphics.

If The Crossover dose happen, I hope it made Smash Bros. style, since there already about Four Street Fighter Clone out there, and only one Brawl.

Not really. SFIV came out in 2009. SSFIV came out in 2010. MvC3 is coming out this year. It'll be at least another year before Street Fighter X Tekken is close to coming out. Other than ports, they release about one big new fighting game a year. Plus if a Nintendo / Capcom crossover did happen, it would only appear on Nintendo machines; the last new Capcom fighting game Nintendo got was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Making another Smash Bros. would take years, and The rebalancing would take even longer to get right with The New Capcom Fighters being added to Smash.
I always found Smash to be flaw-less in gameplay but, in every Fighting game, people still think theres always a Tire list, and that where The real problem begins....

Capcom + Eighting should develop a Versus game and the next Smash Bros should have a Capcom character or two.

I wouldn't touch it if it was like Smash Bros. but it would pretty sweet if it were like the Vs. series.

I agree if its anything like the Smash Bros series than I will pass. However if its like Street Fighter the other fighting game out there than I would check it out. I would love to see Mario vs Megaman, Fireballs vs Atomic Fire lol.

Same. With Capcom's hand in it I can only imagine it would be like the Vs. series though, so sign me up.

I'd get it if it was either Smash Bros. style or Vs. style.

I prefer Smash Bros, since I like the accessibility and the 4-player free for all style. Much more fun to me.

Nooooooooooo heck noooooooo x.x this is just making me sick thinking about it. Why don't they make a crossover with superheroes not Nintendo characters that would be so arkward Mario vs Street Fighter char, it just makes me vomit thinking about it. It would be a miracle if Capcom and Nintendo finds a way to make the chars look the same in a certain animated style so that Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach and so on don't look out of place. But there is no doubt in my mind that Nintendo and Capcom can do it, it's just such a shock to me >.<

then NvC in 2013

I really enjoy Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros and Mario Strikers Charged. I really do hope that Nintendo and Capcom will collaborate to create a Nintendo vs. Capcom game for the 3DS with a few elements from Mario Strikers Charged for the joy of it. I also hope that the game will feature Juri, Ryu, Mega Man and Viewtiful Joe as playable characters.
