Although you may be expecting that this thread is about Stephen King's popular novel, you are mistaken. This thread is for people who wish to share their dreams with others, and try to find meaning in them. I remember there being a thread like this, but can't seem to find it. But I digress, I would like to talk of a nightmare that has stuck with me for a while. It's quite a long read.

I was standing on the platform of a dark, empty railway station. What a gloomy dream, I thought. Then an announcement was made, in a dull, spiritless voice of a man;
"The train is approaching. If you get on it something scarrrry will happen to youuuu." It sounded nonsensical.
Soon the train came in. It wasn't a proper train, but rather a ride you might see in amusement parks, and there were some men and women seated on it in a row.

I sensed something unusual about the dream, but decided to get on the train, just to see how much fear I could take. If I really found it too much I could always wake up. I was able to make myself wake up whenever I wanted, but the only time I could do that was when I was aware I was dreaming.

I settled in the third seat from the back. The air around me felt so realistically warm it was hard to believe this was a dream at all.

"The train is deparrrtiiiing," said the announcement, and the train started moving. My heart was pounding hard with both anxiety and expectation. The train entered into a tunnel soon after leaving the platform. The tunnel was illuminated with a mysterious purple-ish light.

This tunnel - I thought - is like the tunnel I saw on that "ghost train" ride in an amusement park I once went when I was a child. After all, this dream, like any other dreams, is just made up of pieces of my own memories. It doesn't feel scary at all.

Just then there was another announcement. "The next station is, shred skin, shreeeed skiiiin."
A loud scream broke out from behind. When I turned around, I saw the man in the last seat was surrounded by four ugly clowns dressed in rags.

Before my eyes, the man was cut into pieces with sharp knives and it was really like an ike-zukuri. An overpowering stench filled the air, and the man screamed and screamed until my ears began to hurt. Bloody intestines and various organs were pulled out of the man's body and scattered all around him. Immediately behind me sat an ashen-faced woman with long hair, but she seemed totally uninterested of what was happening behind her, in spite of the ghastly din it was making.

I for one was certainly unprepared for this turn of events, and began to feel scared. I thought I would wait a little longer and see what happened next, and then try to wake up. Before I knew it, the man on the last seat was gone, leaving behind only some dark, reddish blood and chunks of meat. The woman behind me was still looking straight ahead with a blank look on her face.

"The next station is Gouging Ouuut, Gouuuging Ouuuuut," the announcement said.
This time two midgets appeared and with something that looked like serrated spoons they began to gouge out the eyes of the woman behind me. The woman's face, which had been a total blank only a moment before, turned into a mask of great fear and pain; then came from her a piercing scream, which nearly shattered my eardrums. I saw her eyeballs pop out. The stench of sweat and blood was unbearable. I bent over, trembling with fear. This was it. I couldn't bear it anymore. Guessing from how things had been, the next would be my turn, since I sat in the third seat from the back. I was going to wake up - but not, I decided, before I check what the announcement would be next.

"The next station is Mince Meat, Mince Meeeaaaat."
This was the worst I could possibly expect. I could easily imagine what was going to happen. I focused all my energy on waking up from the dream. "Wake up, wake up, wake up....." This intensive praying was usually enough to escape from a dream.
Abruptly, I heard something buzzing and wheezing close to me. A midget crawled up into my lap and held up some sort of device and waved it towards me. It must be a tool to turn me into a mince meat. Still, all I could do was close my eyes tight and pray frantically "come on, please, wake up! Wake up wake up wake up wake up...!" The buzzing sound was getting closer and closer. Finally it got so close that I felt the wind pressure on my face. And just when I thought it was the end of me, everything became quiet and still.

I managed to escape from the nightmare. I was wet all over with sweat, and tears were streaming down my cheeks. It wasn't until after I went to the kitchen and drank tons of water, that I was finally able to calm down. The dream was real - too real; but it was just a dream, nothing more, I told myself.

The following day at school I told my friends about the dream. They just found it funny. It was only a dream, they said, and that was all.
Then four years passed and I became a college student. I kept myself busy with studying and working. So much had been going on in my life that by that time I had completely forgotten about the dream.

But one night, it started again.
"The next station is Gouging Ouuut, Gouuuging Ouuuuut," the dream began from that scene. Immediately, my memories came flooding back. Things carried on in exactly the same way as before. The two midgets were gouging out the woman's eyes. I started praying straight away ."Wake up, wake up, wake up!"

But this time, for some reason, I couldn't wake up as easily as the last time. "Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up....."

"The next station is Mince Meat, Mince Meeeaaaat," said the announcement. The time was running out. I heard the familiar buzzing, and it was getting closer and closer. "Wake up, come on, wake up wake up wake up!!"

A dead silence descended. I somehow managed to escape again. With a huge relief I was about to open my eyes when I heard: "you are going to run away agaiiiin? But the next time is goiiing to be yourrr laaast." It was the voice of that announcer in the dream. When I opened my eyes I was back in my own room.

What do you think this dream means?

When I was little, our neighbor's dog would continually terrify us. My sister had saved my life several times from that dog. Anyways, they ended up putting down the dog because it had happened too many times.

Nowadays, that dog will be in my dreams at least once a month. Always taking place in my front yard, it'll attack me. I usually wake up before I get a chunk taken out of me, but it's still terrifying.

The most minlicious of them all.

I used to have this reoccurring dream where the costumed 7 Dwarfs from Disneyland would try to steal my hands for their Human Hands Collection.

And I used to have a recurrung nightmare of being totured to death in a somewhat sexual manner by a psychotic little girl.

Other than that, most of my dreams revolve around super powers, giant robots, evil armies, dangerous treks through strangelands (or familiar lands that are assaulted by unusual forces), your usual "weird stuff that could happen in real life but not likely", loads of popculture references, and other stuff that proves that I watch way, waaaaay too much TV.

I rarely have nightmare or wet dreams (in fact, the few sexual dreams I've had were usually nightmares), in fact besides the ones I mentioned, the only other Nightmares I recall having involved getting yelled at by my mom, finding money and toys at a theater, then they all got stolen (back) by ghosts, an alien abduction nightmare, and my friend getting arrested for possession of cocaine after we had just saved the United States from the forces of the evil emperor.

I had this one recurring dream where I woke up, and lazily looked out the window. Soon, several decaying arms flung themselves at me from under the bed. They grabbed and pulled at me, uuntil I was torn apart.

sorry, havent read the full 1st post yet, but ill beat my drum anyway.
i have a lot of nightmares. like one every week. ive become used to them by now and i dont mind them anymore. but one of the strangest reoccurring dreams that i have still gives me the chills.

so my dram begins wiht me hiding underneath a table. its in my own kitchen. everything is really dark and blue looking. i hear banging downstairs which is weird since i dont even have a basement, but i digress. i dont know whats going on or why, but i know that i need to get out of my house immediately. so i start running. the dream isnt in 1st person either, its over the shoulder. just imagine what gears of war looks like and youve got the jist of it. the banging downstairs still wont stop. I run to my kitchen door and open it. i see this weird monster. halfway between a zombie and a troll. he roars and and attacks me, ripping my throat out with his teeth. then i wake up. the first time i had this dream i was about 7, so i was honestly scared, but forgot about it as the day progressed

then at 8 years old, i had the same dream again. except this time i had a knife. i run to the kitchen door and immediately stab the monster in the head. he screams and dies. i run past his body to the living room. the banging downstairs is even louder now. i look around and theres this door that i never noticed to my left. its marked "basement." i ignore it and run to the front door. then suddenly another monster behind me kills me again. i wake up. same thing as last year, creeped out at first, but forget about it quickly.

i dont know exactly when i had the dream the 3rd time, but im guessing its around when i was 9 because this seems to be an annual thing. i wake up under the table, this time with a dagger slightly different from my last one. open the door, kill the monster, but this time i take a left and run to the main hallway. i look to my left again, a door makred "basement" is there again. now how did that get there? oh well, i just know that i need to get out now. i go to the office and see a monster and kill him. i run to the window and im about to break it open when yet AGAIN another monster kills me

this dream went on for years. i would be under a table with a different weapon each time. try a route to escape and get killed. and yet i always see the door to the basement no matter where i go. i think i keep having this dream just because ive been writing it down everytime the right time of year rolls around i think about it and so it happens. im no longer scared by it. its just like a trip to the dentist, it becomes routine after a while. theres no relevance to it and my real life (i moved out of that house years ago anyway), but its still a fun story.

I've mentioned it on this site before, but I once had this dream where whales took over the world and we all lived underwater and the whales wanted to kill us all and it was quite scary. D:

First off, also consider the fact that I was 12 years old and she was using methods that I shouldn't know about at that age.<_<
...and strange things involving blood...:shudder:

Second of all, I too had dreams involving whales, although they usually weren't scary, often involving the whales being kind sensible creatures and we attained peace through mutual understanding, or it would end using Underwater battleships and speedy submersivals armed with harpoon guns, and the whales being driven away, never to return. Yeah, I know, I like happy endings.

[Public Service Announcement: I didn't read the OP]

My dreams always follow one of two courses. They're either realistic enough to believe them and take place in a world where things went right (which is kinda depressing when you wake up. "WOO I LOVE MY LIFE-- ...oh."), or they're terrifying and lucid. Which is a double-edged blade - on the one hand I'm fully aware it's a dream and I'll wake up shortly, on the other hand nightmares are still terrifying and "FOR GOD'S SAKE WAKE UP NOW."

I've found the most effective way to wake up from lucid dreams is to fall asleep in the dreamworld. So there you have it. My subconscious is trying to screw with me so I don't know which is the real world and which is the dream. Niiiiiice. Thanks subconscious, I love you too.

Well I hate and fear spiders. I used to get nightmares about them as a kid and teenager. Not so much now but I do get one once in a while. It usually involves me picking something up, like a couch cushion in one dream i remember quite vividly. After I pick up this object, naturally to my horror, hundreds of spiders/tarantulas start running out, sometimes crawling on me. Frightening to me nonetheless. I've also had some strange ones. Not quite nightmares. Scary at first, but I used to have dreams where I was killed in my dream, yet still conscious. I knew I was dead though. lol strange stuff.

Yeah, I've noticed that in the dream I had last night(I still shudder at the thought of a UFO in my front yard...) when I fell asleep in the dream was the end of that dream.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Once I had a dream where I saw my friend through my front window in the morning(it was still dark in the dream) but suddenly I felt really tired, so I lay on my sofa. I heard my friend's voice telling me to move my feet back, so I did. Then I heard a noise. I opened my eyes and saw a comic that hadn't even come out yet! Also, note that in the dream the window was closed. Also, I could actually FEEL the comic.I was about to ask where my friend got the comic, but I heard a doorbell sound, which is weird because I don't have a doorbell anymore and didn't at the time of the dream either. So I opened the door and found my other friend asking if I wanted to buy another comic. I said no, and closed the door. Suddenly, it got a lot brighter. Then when I looked out my window neither of my two friends were anywhere to be seen! It was the most realistic dream I ever had, and when I looked out my window in real life it actually was as bright as it had become in the dream!

I was sitting in my room, exactly like my room at the time in real life, and I found this tape sitting on the floor. It was labeled as "home movies" so I figured what harm would there be in watching it?

I popped it in the VCR and... it was exactly what it said it was. Just some home movies of this guy, his son, and two daughters. It was fairly normal at first but the father started to get abusive with the kids on camera. At first it was just him yelling at the kids, but it stepped up to physical abuse. You figured I'd stop watching at this point but apparently my dream self has the same "train wreck syndrom" I have in real life.

The youngest of the two girls gets placed down at the table, and her father puts a cup in front of her. She's sobbing as he pulls out a freaking bottle of Draino from under the sink, pours it in the cup, and forces her to drink it. It only takes a couple of minutes for her to start twitching and frothing at the mouth, until she just falls over dead. The other two kids are sobbing and screaming... And it gets WORSE.

Their dad forces the two of them to cut the girl up. Then he makes them eat her corpse starting with her eyes. The last thing about the dream I remember is the camera zooming in on those kids faces as they start to eat the girl's eyes.

...I didn't sleep that night. :/

I rarely have nightmares, and it's even rarer that I even remember what they were about.

As a kid I always had this dream about being in a sort of deserted, grayish place. Some wind would occasionally blow through and I would sometimes here other people walking around (There were walls everywhere) I'd always reach the end and then look out and see twins fighting on the ground near me. I asked where I was and instead of answering, they pointed out in a direction. I'd look out and see the New York skyline and there would be an explosion that blinded me and then I would wake up.

I think it was a premonition about the twin towers somehow. Because of the New York skyline and the twins fighting on the ground and the explosion, but I don't see how it could be. I was only four or five when it kept happening, and after the towers fell I stopped having it after a month or so, and even in that month it began to fade in my mind and the dream would get fuzzier every time I had it.

Huh, the only nightmare I have is where I find myself sitting on the edge of my bed with a gun in my hand. I'm always distraught over something (what it is is never clear when I wake up) and rambling. I put the gun to my head and pull the trigger, which is always when I wake up. Not as vivid as the others here, but it always shakes me up a bit.

@Proto
I read your Home Movie story and then read your Sig. It ruined the shock.

Also, I think your first dream is telling you not to have that dream again.

The last dream I had was..... odd.

I was in this cool convention room, and there was a 3DS launch.
Next to the room I was in was a white room with a huge cinema screen showing a lady brushing her teeth, and my brother and best friend were there. So there was only me and this other dude in the room, waiting to play on a 3DS. Everyone else seemed to be more interested in the screen. Then this lady comes in with a box with only two 3DSes in it, and me and the other dude got them. It was really fun to play, except the 3DS in my dreams was 1.5 times the width of a closed DSi, and quite tall, hence it's uncomfortability (isn't it weird how all your senses sense what's happening in the dream?). So I tell my brother and friend to come and check it out, and they said 'Nah.'.

Weird dream, huh?
I love how climatic my dream is

I copied and pasted this from a website I used to post on prior to Nintendolife.

I woke up about 5min from this post... and I can't believe what crazy adventure it was. It involved guns that looked like water guns. It started out as me and a few friends (whom I don't asociate with much) where on a so called aventure, I do remember exploding feces though. I was leading the way, I can't really recall too many details as it was the earliest part of the dream. I met this girl who was a god I supose she was a boss of some sort in our adventure. Somehow I beat her and I was able to escape im a very common dream chase. I somehow get in a car and it's a high speed chase and I end up in a high sci-fi medical tank. Walk inside and I see Frankie Munez and an unknown girl charging pumps of HIN1 Vaccine (in small pink propane like tanks) A man appears and they appear to be in legal trouble as Frankie tries to explain they where going to release the gas for the greater good. Somehow I end up home only to find out that I was sleep-going to the bathroom. (still part of the dream, so a dream inside a dream) Suposebly the exploding feces part of the dream was me (like sleep walking) using the bathroom. My parents thought it was a problem I should fix so they sent me to a Psychologist, which I wasn't too fond of. I look around the area which looks like a giant version of my closet combined with a chinese resturaunt. There's a whole bunch of toys everywhere, mostly Ninja Turtles. A "karate man" apppears jokeingly (is that even a word) I take him on and to my suprise I am winning. Lots of over the shoulder throws and such. I find my way to these katanas on display (they look kinda of small) and the karate man laughs at me thinking I wouldn't be able to use them. I open it up... SLASH samurai style I cut a vase in half and the draw it back in. It turns out the karate man was my psychologists and we somehow end up in a mini office with my parents (still inside this weird chinese looking place) and he appears genie like. He's explaining to my parents the cost and such so I wonder around and find some food on a shelf. I look very excited and the genie comes to me and says, anything you can take is free. I was wow I don't know what to choose! Just then he tells me there's this red button on the shelf that accepts coins. You need to open your pocket right under it and it somehow detects the coings underthem. It seems kind of fishy to me and I jump back and decide to throw the coins instead. As they land before the sensor they are absorbed like someones soul! I start running but at the same time im throwing coins at the genie hoping he gets caught by the sensors he's running by. I run into a door that takes me into an outside mexico like place. I suddenly find myself against two wolves closing in... Im thinking I can take them on... so as soon as the first jumps infront of me I catch his jaw and ripped it appart like on Godzilla v.s Mechagodzilla. Then I do it to the next wolf, this one I feel it's warm saliva running down my arm. Suddenly more wolves close in! They seem frightened which was really odd to me, I reach behind me and there was this invisible leech stuck around me (my aura not my skin). I yang it off but it still hurts and I toss it to the side. Now there's five coming and it dosen't look like I can get them all in time before they lundge at me. Then I wake up... and somehow I had the mind to run up here to type it for you guys before I forgot it.
