No wonder people aren't saying much. They're not even showing the score to go along with that claim that's higher. Although, Billy Mitchell playing through Pac-Man for six straight consecutive hours must've been some hard labor! Also, fastest time? There's a glitch in the game?? Huh. Well, that's interesting. I guess I'm the first to properly reply to this thread.
The reason why they don't show the score is because a perfect game of Pac-Man will always be 3,333,360 points. This new guy just did it faster than Billy.

While I love these world records on the classic arcade games as much as the next guy, I think some people are revolving their entire world around it and maybe taking it a bit too far.

I think for these high scorers, it's basically their hobby. Billy has a chicken wings empire and Steve is a math teacher and they both have families.

After watching King of Kong, it just seemed a bit creepy and pathetic to me. Hanging on a bit too tightly and taking things a wee bit too seriously for me. I'd like to see a yearly tournament or something like that instead of all of this videotaping and refereeing. Not to mention all of these people questioning the authenticity of the scores.
I know what you are saying, especially about the guy who only gets three hours a night of sleep because he watches videos for Twin Galaxies for free. That guy needs a girlfriend or something.

Meh. He gets credit for a speed record, but Billy will always hold the high score for Pac-Man.
And as much as i love King of Kong (one of my favorite films possibly of all time), Billy is not as big an a-hole as he came off in the film. An a-hole? Yes, surely, but not quite as bad as presented.
Oh, and Corbie, if King of Kong gave you that creepy/pathetic impression of some of the guys, beware of Chasing Ghosts (another awesome documentary on the 80s arcade era) and the whole piece with the great Todd Rogers.
Actually, Billy is tied with like 5 other players for the perfect score, but Billy gets first place because he did it first.
