.... I really hope this new President for Nintendo saw all this amazing JRPG support just get announced for Sony at TGS. Just wow. Ouch!!! Please fix this for the NX, President K!!!!
To be honest, most of Sony's JRPG support comes from 3rd parties. Off the top of my head, the only Sony published JRPG I can think of is White Knight Chronicles.
If Nintendo wants to improve big JRPG support on their systems (The Wii was host to tons of very small scale JRPGs), they are going to need to fix their 3rd party problem.

@iKhan: Which is sooooo much easier said than done. A lot of people seem to think it's just a matter of specs, but it'll take a lot more than a stronger machine to get third parties back on Nintendo's side. Most notably, Nintendo would have to find some way to guarantee that third parties won't just get completely overshadowed by Nintendo's first party content, which is unlikely at best.

It is more easily said than done, but I think the factor of "being overshadowed" is actually pretty small. Provided Nintendo isn't releasing a super similar game within the same week as a 3rd party game, there shouldn't be that much of a problem.

It's not plain overshadowing either. Nintendo is a competitor in quality, making it exceptionally hard to stand out in their ecosystem. If that ecosystem is not big enough, it's a huge risk to invest in a game on the platform - especially if costs go up.
Whatever nintendo does - if they want most third party games on their platform, they need to mitigate the risks. One way to do it is increasing install base size and exposure, which would happen if NX becomes hardware agnostic. Another way to do it is by providing a system architecture that works along the same lines as competitors do.
When I look at the background of the new nintendo ceo, I don't think he has trouble understanding this. The question is whether or not they want to balance this, in terms of strengthening their difference as opposed to being one of many gaming options. A samey samey platform won't work for nintendo, probably, so minimizing risk for potential third party developers will probably happen only to a point.
Or, of course, nintendo goes all in and baffles us all with their cross compatibility stuff. If the new tekken boss has enough vision, he'll know precisely what to do.

It's 3rd party support, but it's 3rd party support that Sony aggressively targeted. Developers aren't making JRPGs for PS4 just 'cuz.
@UGXwolf: Earlier, I've been worried about that merging divisions being just three divisions now. Entertainment Planning and Development, Platform Technology Development and Business Development divisions are the three divisions Nintendo has now. Seeing as how many staff are there in each division, Its possilbe that they don't need third parties for collaboration anymore. Miyamoto-san stated that Nintendo always wants to make games on their own and this restructure is mostly going to solve that issue.
Because of this, now its very likely that third parties are going to be the least important aspect for Nintendo. When you think of pure quality and the fact that unlike third party games, their games sell in long terms.....yeah, that alone proves that third parties can't really compete with that quality let alone having technology to make it easier to make games for them.
Seriously, as unfair as comparing these games sound, compare Kid Icarus: Uprising and Bayonetta 2 as different as the genres are. The latter couldn't even come close to what Uprising had.
@Artwark: I'm not saying you're wrong, but how do you come to the conclusion that they don't need 3rd parties for collaboration anymore due to the merger?
I'm actually not too crazy about the merger. As much as I love Miyamoto's games, I always thought it was cool that Nintendo had studios that worked separately from each other. Like in the past, you had Miyamoto's EAD department make games like Mario & Zelda, and Gunpei Yokoi's R&D1 department made Metroid, Wario Land, Kid Icarus - all games that are very different from Miyamoto's. I know most of that ended with Iwata's 2005 restructuring, but I feel like this merger is the final nail in the coffin for diversity.
@BigBabyPeach: When Nintendo needs to make their own games, sometimes they don't have enough resources because of various divisions having their own projects and as a result, the ones who are from other divisions are not capable to make games except the ones that they are familiar with. Example, SPD aren't the type to make a Zelda game that EAD is capable off. In this case, inorder to get resources, they use third parties that are familiar with such things. Yoshio Sakamoto trusted Team Ninja because of the things that they could do that Sakamoto-san felt that his branch from Nintendo couldn't.
With the merge, the managers can now observe the creativity that the branches they couldn't observe earlier. Think of it like how SEGA recruited the team for Phantasy Star 3. Had they been smart, they could've merged the divisions together and the ones who made PH2 would have collaborated with the ones responsible for PH3 and it would have been like PH2 unlike how it stands now being the worst of the series.
F-Zero meets Twisted Metal! Star Fox cross Halo cross Star Wars! Yarn Yoshi teams up with Sackboy! New Kingdom Hearts Saga featuring Nintendo worlds instead of Disney (or alongside Disney)! Gaming All-Stars: Smash Battle — Final Destination (featuring all your favorites like Mario, Link, Master Chief, Samus, Little Mac, Ryu, Ryu Hyabusa, Sam Fischer, Solid Snake, Cloud Strife, Sora, Jak, Nathan Drake, Bayonetta, Kratos, Doom Guy... I'm sorry, I'm having trouble taking this seriously.)
Seriously, though. I WOULD like to see more cross overs.
@sleepingmudkip I heard that Dragon Quest XI was coming to 3DS and NX, so I think the wounds have healed.
