So I have a 2DS and I'm thinking of upgrading to a 3DS and eventually switch. I have not used this 2DS in months, I was trying to remember if I registered an email address to this device? Or if it is all localized.
I believe I'm mixing up two different things in my head ( one being Nintendo account off device which I probably never created and the other localized on the 3DS / 2DS ) which I know my username and CC details, but just can't find out if I ever put an * email I need to remember.
If memory serves when I buy my new 3ds device I just simply plug the two together and transfer. If I lost or destroyed my device, my games ( only purchased are Pokémon yellow ) would be unrecoverable? Correct?
You only need to 'plug the two together' and do a system transfer.
The email bobbins is in regards to your My Nintendo account and said email address for purchasing things on the eShop, which is kind of pointless as there is no such thing as an unified account for the 2DS/3DS.
If you destroy or lose your device then yes, you have lost everything... because Nintendo still haven't entered the 21st century.
So I shouldn't obsess that I made an email account on my 2DS and forgot it? You know when you take long breaks from games and it's hard to remember? I've tried almost all the emails I can think of on the Nintendo online only to get emails saying no Nintendo account is associated, then only to find out that the Nintendo account online is totally different and separate from my device account.
Like I don't remember any passwords or anything, all I have is a username set on my 2DS.. sorry if I'm being redundant but I just want to be sure before I continue. I appreciate your patience and assistance.
For example I know I only purchased Pokémon yellow through the Nintendo 2DS eshop back in 2016, but I cannot remember inputting any indentification or passwords other than my CC details. It seems all localized. I only play Pokémon and want to use the pokebank in the future..
@YouSillyHumans I've done the process before myself, from the OG 3DS XL to the new 3DS and as far as I could tell, I didn't require to input an email address or a password and the like.
