At My School we have been doing book reviews and we can do reviews on just any book we want, so I decided to review the Zelda Manga I had. My highest marked review was The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap Manga (Vol.8) Review I did so here it is (BTW I got an Excellence which is basically a A+)

Title: The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap Volume.8
Author: Akira Himekawa
Date Published: 2009
Genre: Fantasy/Adventure

The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap Manga is based on the video game of the same name which is part of The Legend of Zelda series. The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap is set in the land of Hyrule in an unknown time.

Link is a young boy who lives in the land Hyrule with his Grandfather (a local blacksmith), Princess Zelda who is the Princess of Hyrule is friends with Link and one day on the day of the Picori Festival, Link and Princess Zelda go to watch the sword fighting tournament. The winner is a strange man named Vaati, who has come to claim the Light force which is sealed within the Bound Chest. When the light force turns up missing, Vaati turns Princess Zelda to stone! To save his friend, Link needs the power of the Picori Blade, but only a certain master sword-smith can reforge it. Can Link find the pieces of the broken sword before Vaati does?
The Picori (or Minish, as the Hylians call them) are small creatures the size of a thumb that live everywhere in Hyrule. They can only be seen by children, but, however, when people are not looking, they help them out with other things.
Link (the main character) is a determined young boy who loves adventure and is training to be a master swordsman which gives him potential to be the hero. The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap is unique because Link can turn small to discover places previously inaccessible; being small gives a different perspective to the world and shows how big the world can really be. In terms of characters it has your standard hero, a companion, villain and princess for main characters with some sub characters; the main characters are very entertaining when they interact with each other and they were very lovable at times due to their general charm. An excellent example is Link and Elzo are all ways disagreeing with each other but they argue about immature topics that are humorous. At the end of the book there is an extra to show Vaati’s past and how he become a villain giving some back story, which is a nice addition.

The book was generally entertaining and quite interesting to read. It had a unique plot, the characters were charming, the characters interacted well, and it gave an interesting outlook on the world of Hyrule. Also, the artwork was phenomenal (particularly in the way it portrayed epic battles against evil monsters) and it was and interesting gimmick to be able to shrink and access small areas. It knew how to be serious or light-hearted when it needed to be and tied in with the video game well (although it changed some big and small details from the video game for a better story).

In Conclusion, if you are a fan of The Legend of Zelda video games, you will love the books (including this one). If you not a fan though, you can still enjoy this book if you enjoy Fantasy/Adventure stories.

Hyrulean is correct, you're not.

Also, great write up as it's short, concise, and to the point (I have the book.) I also have both parts of Ocarina and another, but I'm trying to trade/sell them at the moment along with a few others on craigslist. It's not that I hate them, but I just don't have the funds to grab the others at cover value as they're such insanely fast reads and short they're just not worth $10 to me and I can't find them used for half off at my usual haunts in the area. :

My, how times have changed. We would never been permitted to use manga for a book report back in the day. Of course, my teachers back then probably would have thought "Manga" was the name of the lady who owned the dry cleaners downtown.

That said, a well written bit. Kudos!

I fixed some spelling and grammar errors. You seem to capitalise some words unnecessarily and there was some awkward phrasing as well as a few run on sentences. Lastly, you seemed redundant in a few areas.
"if you are a fan of The Legend of Zelda video games and you enjoyed them" If you are a fan, doesn't it go without saying you must get some sort of enjoyment from the games?

I think review still gets the point across though. With your next few reviews you'll surely improve. Ah, the thrills of yesteryear. insert rant
NOTE: I may have overlooked a few things, but I believe I caught most of the errors.

@zss_shadow I am not really that great with grammar, I have some problems with fullstops and saying certain things.
Oh well, there is always room for improvement.

Anyways though good review

I don't think what 'turtlelink' edited ("The Picori or Minish, as the Hyruleons call them, are small creatures the size of a thumb that live everywhere in Hyrule. They can only be seen by children, but, however, when people are not looking, they help them out with other things.") made much of a difference, but I guess it's good to help out a bit.

Could do a little better on some of the spelling and capitalization. (Hyruleons? You mean "Hylians.") Other than that, very nice job.

I'm gone. Good f*cking bye.

irken004

I've only read the Ocarina of Time mangas and the Majora's Mask manga. Pretty good, but I don't care about the others.

Yeah, just keep writing regularly and you'll improve. Despite the errors in places, the review was a lot better written than many fan-reviews I've read lately. Even professionals have errors in their reviews these days. XD I wish you luck.
