I periodically grow out a fairly-neat goatee style thing, but usually only for a few months at a time before i get annoyed at trimming it evenly (or until i slip when shaving). It's usually just when i'm in the mood for a change and want to rock the Mirror Spock look. =D

I would have to say that if your mustache/beard doesn't make you look like a hobo, you're probably good to go. (Unless you just look plain ugly with facial hair.)

Pain to shave constantly so I try to keep a goatee. I think though if you have dark hair it looks good compared to light. We should be talking sideburns though.
Just having a mustache is tricky. Most people can pull off a beard, but you've got to have the right facial structure for a mustache to work. Not everyone can rock it as awesomely as Tom Selleck.

Mustaches look horrible for the most part and make you look older than you truly are, and they can make you look like a pedophile.lol Facial stubble on the other hand can look great! But IF you must rock a mustache, have chin hair to match, goatee whichever.
With me I rock the stubble look on the sides of my face and neck, yet I'm clean shaven above and below the lips. On another note, I just turned 26 today aghhh. I don't want to get any older! Ah well, still young! It's just I'm past that mid 20 mark now. And I'll never grow a Mustache! Never!!!!!!!!! Johnny Depp seems to be the only actor that looks good with a Mustache.lol But he still looks better clean shaven.

@WaveBoy: are you kidding? he's gone shirtless on Mythbusters before, he looks pretty damn good for an old guy IMO... the man's a scuba diver and a wilderness survival expert; he gets plenty of exercise. also, since he's been married since '89, I don't think he's looking.
