OK so basically just post up a song that you connect to or have an idea of what it means. And this is your opinion, so there is no right or wrong answer!

OK, I'll start with Square One by Coldplay:

Start
You're in control, is there anywhere you wanna go?
You're in control, is there anything you wanna know?
The future's for discovering
The space in which we're travelling

From the top of the first page
To the end of the last day
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

Under the surface trying to break through
Deciphering the codes in you
I need a compass, draw me a map
I'm on the top, I can't get back

Whoa whoa

The first line on the first page
To the end of the last page
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

You just want
Somebody listening to what you say
Oh, you just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

Is there anybody out there who
Is lost and hurt and lonely too
Are they bleeding all your colours into one?
and if you come undone
As if you've been run through
Some catapult it fired you
You wonder if your chance will ever come
Or if you're stuck in square one
Stop

The intro makes me think of some girl who breaks through the security on a spaceship and his holding the pilot at gunpoint, and the pilot calmly says, "You're in control, is there anywhere you wanna go?" So the pilot starts to reason with her with what he says in the song, trying to connect with her with the fact that she's a lost and wounded soul. I dunno. Don't ask. Thats just the image I get with this song.

So, feel free to post your opinion/interpretation of any song you like.

Here, knock yourself out:

American Motor Over Smoldered Field
There will not be a tender fire
Upon your postcard mountains.
No golden children
Will write hymns about
The slow defeat of your reckless destiny.

Bullets in the bellies of babies
Sleeping in the strangest places,
Indifferent to the blinding grace of
The vapour-trails and burning waste
Of your Baptist skies.

Oh! To live! In a burning house
With burning children eating dust
And finger-painting flags.
Smoke pours out of their eyes.
They're praying and saluting.
They're all hanged up.

Hey! Okay! Kiss me slowly
Beneath the dripping leaves
Of our train track trees.
Though sickly and diseased
Some weeds thrive anyways.

This fence around your garden won't keep the sky from falling.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap.

where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only just begun to form
crop circles in the carpet
sinking feeling

spin me round again
and rub my eyes,
this can't be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
all those years
they were here first

oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before the takeover,
the sweeping insensitivity of this still life

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines (oh, you won't catch me around here)
blood and tears (hearts)
they were here first

Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
Mmmm whatcha say,
Mmmm that it's all for the best?
of course it is
Mmmm whatcha say?
Mmmm that it's just what we need
you decided this
whatcha say?
Mmmm what did she say?

ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
speak no feeling no I don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs

(hide and seek)
speak no feeling no i don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a (you don't care a) bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
oh no, you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit

I think this song is about the Holocaust.
please give it a listen when you have time. it's a really epic song.
but it was sampled by Jason De Rulo (Whatcha Say) and gave it a cheap and shallow meaning than what it's supposed to mean. ugh.
