Topic: Mortal Kombat Rebirth

I dont know how many of you have seen that short Mortal Kombat Rebirth. It was a big hit this past summer and I believe it still can be found on You tube. It started out as just a short made by a director to sell WB his vision of a reboot of the MK movies. Well I guess they were sold on it cause it sounds like it will be happening.

Wow. Johnny Cage doesn't get any love, does he? Based on what's happened between MK II & 3, the beginning of the second MK movie and now this, the poor guy has got to be considered the Dan (Street Fighter) of the Mortal Kombat series!

Theres things I like and I hate about it to be truthful.

I liked Michael Jai White as Jax I thought he was just perfect for the role. I also did like Sonya and I digged Scorpion. I didnt like how they did Baraka I though that he was way too different. Reptile on the other hand was a nice twist, I especially loved how they added his head eater finisher in there.

Baraka with DREADLOCKS, MON! He's a Jamaican Baraka! Um, how about NO, LOL. Can't go wrong with the lovely Jeri Ryan as Sonia, though, mmmm.

Well it didnt help that they got the guy that played Eddie Gordo in the Tekken movie to play Baraka. Like I said he was tooo different.

I dont know how many of you guys have been following this but they now have a Web series called Mortal Kombat Legacy which so far seems to be a prequel to the games. For any of you that are interested the first two episodes are up and new ones are added every Tuesday on Youtube. So far I have to say its got me hooked.

Oh man MKA was bad. The thing that had me was the fact that except for Lui Kang and Kitana it was a whole new cast. I thought Christopher Lambert was a waaaay better Raiden then the guy in the second movie. ANd that whole story Arc that Raiden and Shao Kahn are brothers OMG. But than again I guess it had to stay on the Video games make horrible film adaptations role.

You guys don't know how to enjoy a movie.

The first MK movie was awesome! Christopher lambert made a great Raiden. Just ten minutes into the sequel I wanted to walk out. I didn't but I knew something was wrong as soon as I saw the first fight. It looked so silly and idiotic. The only cool part was the Cyrax and Jax fight.

i enjoyed the movies only thing i didnt like about the second one was the change actors and the fact that it seems to take place right after, they might as well made it it a 3 hour movie

for mortal kombat rebirth i loved the realism they went in there with reminds of the dark knight movie

for the webisodes series its good but could be a little longer but from what i think it seems to be going as a movie length and will act as a prequal to the movie thats already being planed out i bet and they will put all the episodes together into a movie and release on blu-ray and dvd in the near future

That trailer above doesn't even remotely resemble the MK we all know and love. Personally I think they should just leave it alone and stop trying to make movies out of videogames. The two just don't mix. Can't we just enjoy it as a videogame series and make original movies for once? I'm tired of all the reboot crap anyway.

The MK movie intro gave you chills too huh? I thought I was the only guy that giddy in the theater back then.
Man was that ever awesome! Even seeing the trailer for the first time had me squealing with glee.
The fight with Johnny cage and scorpion was wicked! Johnny even did a friendship after beating his .
Ahh that takes me back. GET DOWN HERE! LOL.

@BlackFira: I agree with all that you said, and I too am wondering if this Webseries is going to be a prequel led up to a new MK movie. I have heard that they have been in development of another MK movie for years and since the latest game is a reboot on the series it would make sense if the next movie is a reboot as well.

@Waveboy&Link79: I remember being afraid of the MK movie after the disappointments Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter turned out to be, in fact it took my friends tricking me and taking me to a Drive in theater to see it lol. I am glad they did though. I remember grumbling at them about being kidnapped and being force to watch it when all of a sudden I heard that familiar MK theme song saw the fire across the screen forming the MK symbol something told me at that point that this time they were going to get a video game movie right.

@Waveboy: Personally I thought the Reptile Liu Kang fight was the best fight in the movie, For awhile there I thought Liu Kang was going to lose that fight lol. Speaking of fights did any of you guys get the chills when Liu Kang and Shang Tsung faced off and the MK theme started playing??

Oh and I think the GET DOWN HERE was just a play on the GET OVER HERE from the games when ever Scorpion snags you with his spear. And just a bit of trivia the GET OVER HERE from the games as well as the GET DOWN HERE was voiced by Ed Boon one of the creators. His name and the other creator John Tobias make up Noob Saibot names as well. (THere last names backwards if you couldnt tell)

Best part of the movie! I still have the VHS tape somewhere. I even bought the MK Album with songs by the immortals. I used to crank it up on my stereo and pretend fight with my friends.

Me no like Mortal Kombat. Too much bloody and gory excess.
