Yeah, I don't think you can really make a judgement there. Even between the two characters instead of series, they're pretty equal. I'd lean more towards Metroid, probably, but that probably also has a lot to do with the fact that I've played and loved a number of Metroid games, but never have owned an Xbox, or played a Halo game for more than just fooling around for a few minutes with friends.

I like Metroid.

That depends on what you're aiming for. Per say, you wouldn't pick up a main-series Metroid game if you wanted an FPS. Similarly, if you wanted a platforming game you wouldn't pick up Halo. However, if you are talking about Halo vs. Metroid Prime then It's more personal taste. I prefer Metroid because I'm not much of a multiplayer guy.

I prefer Metroid, but they aren't really comparable. Halo is about shooting stuff, Metroid isn't.

Neither. I'm not a huge fan of either series. But, if my life depended on picking one series, I'd go with Metroid.

Halo. The fact that none of the metroid games actually has an online play makes me want to cry.

They both involve oddly similarly looking characters in space. What's the difference?

If the question is really "Which either series do you think owns?" then both, obviously (see Metacritic scores and raging fanboys for proof). If I had to choose one over the other, I wouldn't, because they are dramatically different types of games. I will say that Halo is better at giving the player instant gratification and it has done more for its genre as a whole (in my opinion, of course. And no it's not more valid than yours ).
