It's certainly fast enough. The Switch doesn't support anything faster than U1 at the moment even, so you can't get anything that will perform significantly better. And the 200GB is the current sweet spot for storage/price, so it's a good deal.
As for whether it's suitable, it depends on what games you want to play and whether you're going to prefer buying games on cartridge or as downloads. If you're looking to play mostly first party games on cartridge, you could get away with something much smaller; a 32GB card would easily suffice and give you plenty of space for a fair few indie titles on top.
On the other hand, if you're looking to buy mostly downloads and third party games (including some on cartridge) there's no such thing as big enough. Some of them come with whopping 30GB+ installs, and such a card could see you running out of space with as few of six of them. Still, at least it's not too hard to swap cards on the go if you need more.
Personally, I've gone with a 128GB card in the knowledge that I'll probably outstrip it eventually. However, there'll hopefully be much larger cards available at reasonable prices by that stage.
Appreciate the feedback. It was the speed I was most concerned with. I think most major releases I would prefer a physical copy, but there are (increasingly) as many eShop releases which are grabbing my attention too.
@Bod2019 My tip: don't buy one until you actually need it. I wanted to get one when I first bought my Switch at the March release--but decided it was unnecessary. As of today I still have 14 GB available on my switch. Cards will only get cheaper, so you are better off waiting until you run out of space.
I have the 128GB version of the card you linked to. it's been great so far. Any card that has a number 1 inside a larger U will be fine. I only purchased it because of Doom. Up till that point I had plenty of space with 10 physical games (and their updates and game saves) and about half a dozen indie games. Good advice from Minch, only pick one up when you start to run out of memory - a lot of Switch users may never need one. Unfortunately the 200GB card was recently on offer at just under £51 so the current price isn't that great. The 128GB is usually around £40 but special offers have seen it drop to £30. Picstop still have the 128GB SanDisk Ultra at £29.99. It's the 80MB/s version (rather than the red/grey 100MB/s) but it will still be fine in Switch. http://www.picstop.co.uk/micro-sdxc/sandisk-ultra-micro-sdxc-...
Thanks guys, I would wait based on the advice, my biggest draw backs are games like L.A Noire with that additional download. Good advice from you all, appreciate it.
