Hey Guys, First of all, I am HKLurch18 (you find me on Youtube and DeviantArt under the same name) and I work together with a few people on a fangame called MegaMan 72. It will be an old-school 8-bit Megaman game, featuring all the qualities of previous games you love so much.
We are still in the design stage, however we got a ton of enemies and music finished already, 6 Robot Masters have a full sprite sheet, menu graphics are also almost done + we made a fair share of stage tiles so far.
Our Team currently consists of 2 spriters (I am one of them), one Composer and one who draws some pretty cool artworks for the project. For all of you who want to know more about the Project, please visit one of these websites:
I'd like to tell you here about this project because we are not that popular yet and need public support to keep up our motivation =D
Here are the drawings of our art-worker, DomoPJ, of our Robot Masters:
Saw Man
built to be an improved version of Metal man and Cut Man
Plasma Man
An energy Robot who can split into two parts
Ooze Man
Originally built to do Sewer Work. Can withstand the most aggressive toxins
Mirror Man
A robot utilizing a new Shield technology which reflects all kinds of projectiles
Inject Man
Utilizes a specific chemical to paralyze creatures and robots alike
Gamble Man
A Slot machine turned into a robot, Attacks depend on luck
Distort Man
A robot built with the Yellow-devil technology. Can distort himself or solid matter
Buzz Man
A fire-fly type robot using flames and ultra-high pitched soundwaves to attack.
I hope you guys enjoy our project and maybe try to support us somehow, we'd be glad =D Please ask if you want to use any of our pictures. Thank you very much =)
Inject man scares me a little since im afraid of needles but overall they look pretty cool. is it Mega Man seven-two or seventytwo?
You just spotted the ambiguity in the title =) You can either say that it is MegaMan 7.2 because it is like an 8-bit follow up to MM6, Or you call it MegaMan 72, because "72dpi" is the name of the forum where the project started
The artwork looks really nice. But unfortunately we all know that good graphics does not make a good game.
Since fan games that are made with game creation tools like Multimedia Fusion or Game Maker are almost always a bit unprofessional IMO, may I ask how you work on this game?
Are you using a real programming language like VB, C++ or Assembler? Or do you use one of the aforementioned tools or a simple BASIC dialect for creating games like BLITZ Basic or DarkBASIC?
We supposedly use C++. The programmer of the homebrew game super mario war is in our corner and willing to help once he got the newest version of aforementioned game ready. until then, we might have finished most of the content of the game. If you havn't played super mario war before, I recommend it with the warmest regards to anybody who likes mario, platforming and multiplayer fun. =)
Nice. That reminds me that I need to check out more freeware games on the PC. The last one that was worth the time was Cave Story.
When you've finished your game I'm sure there are some Megaman fans who will love it. And at the latest when you get a deal with Nintendo and publish it on the WiiWare service, I'm sure everybody here will take a look at it, too.
Oh god, That's a pretty positive look into the future right there, but thanks XD If you want to check more freeware games, you really should check out super mario war, and the halloween mod of it (which I was part of too! =) )

Super Mario War eh? Well then how about maybe porting it to Wii seeing as Super Mario War already is there. Would definitely help with exposure for you and would also help us out in our argument that homebrew gaming on the Wii is a good thing that you should be excited about. Well, assuming it turns out alright that is... I mean, I don't know?
You know out of all of those Robot Masters, I really like Mirror man.... it's definitly a name and idea that Capcom would probably use. But what I want to see is a Turantula Man
Yeah me too, unfortunately Turantula Man is too long for a title screen and Spider Man is copyrighted
All the art designs are amazing. The only thing I have to say is as good as the art designs are, every mega man is about level design. I think someone posted a video of a independent Mega Man that looked interesting but the level design was horrible. You have great level design, you got a great MM game.
@ starboy: thanks, i can say that to all of you here, too! =D
@J Bitties: Yes, luckily we are aware of horrible fangames out there, thus we will take our time with this one. We won't hurry, we take our time and revisit our stuff that is done more than once, but permanently to ensure the overall quality =) Thanks for your advice, mate
