Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help. I have been selling my game collection for various reasons and have come across a copy of Mario Party 8 for the wii that was originally recalled for containing a slur word for disabled people in the UK.
My Brother used to work at Woolworths and got hold of a copy as they were taken off shelves and sent to be destroyed.
I am just looking for any info if this is actually worth any more than the standard version of the game that was eventually censored?
Sadly I only have the disk as my brother didn’t get hold o the case, I assume it was just the disks sent off to be destroyed.
Anyhow, I did play it years ago and saw the offending line but need to get hold of a functioning wii to take screen shots for now. I’ll update when I get hold of one.
Yeah not much to go on at all, probably why not many go on sale. As far as I remember the game didn’t fly off the shelves and the majority would have been kids who had no idea about it being recalled.
I'd like to see footage too if possible. I had no idea that word was offensive in any way. Apparently, a clipped form I use for "spaghetti" is a derivative of said word. O_o
And here I thought I had a pretty good command of British slang at this point with all the literature I've read....Though I'm still learning newer things in my native American slang on occasion. XD

@MasterJay: I presume the word in question was removed by a mod (Yosheel). I found out the word by doing a search of the recall online. It's a harmless word here in the US that tends to mean crazy, irregular, erratic, etc. In the UK, it's apparently a slur that originated as a term for sufferers of Cerebral Palsy and is now often used as an insult for physical or mental ineptitude. I'd list the closest US equivalent, but the word in question, though not considered a swearword by many, is still pretty rude in some contexts.

The word is actually the correct term for sufferers of cerebral palsy (I have a sister, a cousin and have known others afflicted with the condition) which is preferable to something like "sufferer-of-cerebral-palsy." I still use the word in its intended context.
