Topic: Mario Fan Thread

As the title suggests, this thread is meant for discussion of everything Mario. You're love, your hates, the latest releases and the Golden Oldies. Nothing is off limits. Have at it.

Granted, I'm not much of Mario fan myself. I think there are only 2 or 3 games that I thoroughly enjoyed, not counting the Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi games, which are as good as they come. I've played most of the main games by now, except for the two newest games in the series, and I can say that they are in fact really good, and I can see why people like them so much, they just aren't my cup of tea. Most of them are too difficult and unforgiving for me, yet have embarrassingly easy boss battles where the bosses aren't much worse than the main enemies. The Only exceptions that I have observed are the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Sunshine, and Yoshi's Island, which are much more manageable and the bosses are actually the hardest part of the game, as they should be.

If you can't figure out from my name, I'm DEFINETLY a Mario fan. My favorite at the moment is Super Mario World, but I'll be getting Galaxy 2 in about 11 hours. I usually like the 2D games better but I really think Galaxy 2 could outdo many if not all of the 2D games. Did I mention I want Galaxy 2?!?!?!!?!

I'm really glad that Nintendo did the Virtual Console, because my first console was a Gamecube so I never got to play the original Mario games except the GBA version of Super Mario World.

Must..... get.... Galaxy 2.......

Im not a major Mario Fan, but overall Mario 64 is by far my favorite Mario of All Time. Other than that Deluxe, SMB NES, SMB4 and World SNES are my other most liked. I did enjoy SMB2 NES as its so different for the series, I know it started as antoher game, but its a fresh Mario experience nonetheless. I really enjoyed all the RPG titles as well, especially Partners in Time.

I didnt care for Galaxy. Graphically Amazing and really creative, but far to easy with little replay value. Boss fights were bland and way to simple. I might try out Galaxy 2 down the road but right now Im not very intersted at the moment because of the first game didnt appeal to my taste. Im am glad to see all the hype for the game from others here though.

Mario Kart Wii was the one Mario Game that I was so looking forward too for console online play, BUT the useless weapons that are there to do nothing but defeat the best players and allow the others to win, was it for me and the new Nintendo games until recently. I like challenge in video games, not games that punish you for being good!

I wish they would release more Mario cartoons based on the newer Mario games. As corny as the Mario cartoons of the late 80s and early 90s are, they bring back great memories.

Seems as if they arent many Mario Fans on this site

The thread seems kind of redundant and overly broad, like going on a Sega forum and starting a Sonic thread. I'm sure the majority of users (though certainly not all) enjoy the Mario games, and there are a lot of games to talk about. That said, I'm certainly a fan myself. Super Mario Brothers is the first video game I can remember playing, and it'd still be the best if not for NSMBW.

Well obviously there are, it's a Nintendo website. There are so many Mario threads floating around because of Galaxy 2 that probabaly people just don't notice this one.... or something.

Throwing out an anti-Mario statement wasn't the best start to a fan thread either.<_<

Screw it, I just saw the Super Mario Galaxy 2 thread, which is apparently where are the Mario fans are. I'm just gonna let this thread die nice and quiet-like while I try to come up with my next big idea for a thread.

You'd think this would be more popular than the 360 thread on a Nintendo site...

Or the PS3 Fan thread, which happens to have more posts than any other thread on this entire site.

No, you wouldn't. The kind of avid gamer that posts on forums is likely to own multiple consoles, and those are generally the only threads to post about those systems here, whereas there are a thousand and one threads to talk about Mario on a Nintendo forum, making a general purpose Mario thread kind of redundant.
