Switch Ultima. The Switch Ultima would be a 400 dollar modular system largely in line with what most people expect of a Switch Pro, 1080p screen in portable and a newer and more powerful chipset. Future Switch games would be programmed with scale-able graphics and able to "self downgrade" to run on the original Switch and the system would have a significantly stronger battery with up to 8 hours, but a promised minimum with the most demanding of games - of 4 hours.

But where it would diverge is - it would come with top of the line emulation software for NES, SNES, Game Boy, GB Color, GBA, N64, Gamecube and Wii and the dock would be radically different. Out of the box the dock would have slots for original NES cartridges and ports for original controllers. Plugging in original NES titles would allow you to dump the rom on your system, in order to avoid rampant piracy you would be required to re-insert the cartridge once a month to continue playing it - but your save data would not be lost. Furthermore, this original NES adapter would be removable from the dock, and you would be able to purchase adapters for all of the above mentioned games.

The cheapest would be the "Game Boy All" adapter, which would take all Game Boy Cartridges but would lack any controller ports. This one would cost 30 dollars.
The SNES adapter would have 2 ports and cost 40
While the N64 adapter would have 4 ports and cost 50.
The Gamecube and Wii disc drive adapter would be the most expensive, but support both systems, come with a plug for the Wii-Mote Sensor Bar and 4 Gamecube controller ports. It would be 60 dollars. There would be a version that comes with a Wii-mote sensor bar for another 10 dollars.

I envision these adapters connecting via USB the way the current Gamecube Controller adapter does. All of them would have pass through USB slots as well, allowing you to use 3rd party USB controllers while using the adapters.

You'd be able to play these games in portable mode and be able to map the buttons to joycon buttons however you'd like. Nintendo would also release an official joycon with a D pad as well.

Furthermore, Nintendo would re-release a line of remake controllers for these systems, prices would vary by console.

Alternatively: I don't know enough about the programming to know if this is possible, but if games have some sort of unique identifier, a serial number or something, in their code, then the once a month connection requirement could be dropped, instead each game could only be dumped and tied to one Nintendo account. But as far as I know, there is no such identifier, no way to tell one copy of Mario 3 from another, in terms of the software.

From a software perspective the device would support themes for the home menu handled in the same way as the 3DS. It would also have a 3DS style activity log - minus the pedometer - as a default pre-installed app. The eshop would get its own music, have a section for featured games for different genres and "flash sales" random 30 minute long 30% discounts on random games at - you guessed it - random.

NSO would also support a selection of games from the above mentioned systems. You would be able to choose different package deals - if you only want NSO and games from one system, it's the same price as it currently is and you can choose the system. Add 10 dollars per year for each additional system, or get a package deal of everything for 60 bucks a year. NSO would also include a direct messaging text based system to friends, a system that can be limited and controlled by the parental control app.

Finally, speaking of apps, the NSO app would be totally reworked, would get a website for PC as well and would become a Nintendo social network, a Miiverse done right. It would become a hub of all your Nintendo products, unify your friend lists, and you would be able to see which of your friends are online, what they are playing, and on what system. As well as having the ability to send messages and post on game related message boards. Again, all of these social features would be monitored and limitable by the parental control app. However only NSO members would be able to post on boards.

I would make use of local streaming technology.
It something that Phones and Tablets make good use of so why not consoles
Lets just take the Switch as a basis.

Put local streaming technology I could make a Switch steam to a Chromecast.
That means that I can put the Switch screen on any TV that has connected or build in.

But wait there is more we can do.
Now about making the Switch thinner?
You can do that by separating the Screen from the Switch.
Then you have the console in your bag and the Screen and controllers in your hands.
And if the screen breaks, you can get a new one to connect to the console.

Not enough? How about multiple screen connected to one console.
Play split screen games on one screen or 2. Why not 4?
Or what about games that uses 2 screens like the 3DS/2DS?
Well if the console can handle split screen gaming on 2 screens, it should be able to handle games that use 2 screens

Not gonna lie, the New 3DS, Nintendo Gamecube, and Nintendo Switch were already the consoles of my childhood dreams. I don't think I could do any better.

Nintendo Switch except without paying for online. And the online is good. And with dual screen capabilities.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

NintendoBox4. It plays Nintendo, PlayStation and XBOX games in optional graphics. It is portable and a home console. It has Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass, All 1st Party titles, PlayStation Network and NSO (though better). No Console Wars. No Paying for extra consoles. No fuss. NintendoBox4.

2160/60p
SSD
16GB RAM
Really great CPU and GPU
Comes with a 4K capable VR headset
I really like the Switch Pro controllers, so it will be like that, but better
Backwards compatible with Switch games, will enhance the games with 4K textures and resolution
Full NES - Wii virtual console library at launch
You will be able to sync your Smart Phone, Nintendo Switch, 3DS or Wii U gamepad to the system for asymmetric play. You can also use it for creating Mario Maker levels in your hand and watch the gameplay on the TV.
Backwards compatible with Wii Remotes, GameCube controllers, and Switch controllers.

There will also be a handheld with a 1080/60p OLED screen and 8GB of RAM for portable play.
You can also use this for asymmetric gaming. It can also do screen share with the TV, just press a button and you will be streaming from your handheld to your TV.
