So according to Liam Robertson, Retro Studios and Metroid Prime series producer Tanabe, who was the NCL supervisor at Retro, are no longer on good terms. As a result, someone higher up at NCL moved Tanabe and assigned Yoshio Sakamoto as the supervisor at Retro.
That being said, this sounds EXTREMELY fabricated. Liam knows full well that people think of Sakamoto as "the guy who ruined Other M" and Retro as the "studio that should only make Metroid Prime games". Having him as the new supervisor at Retro? That honestly sounds like a fabricated rumor in order to evoke a reaction from people.
Even if it's true, so what? He also oversaw Splatoon, and that game turned out to be one of the Wii U's best selling games and one of their most exciting new IPs.
It sounds like something out of Coronation Street. Did they get their handbags out first or did they go straight to their higher ups and tell on each other for being meanies?
Great to see Liam has been kept up to date with his sources. Wonder how the latest Emmerdale episode will inspire him.
Eh. I'm not gonna believe it. Plus, isn't Sakamoto bitter towards Retro/the Prime series? I thought he didn't like what they were doing to Metroid, him being in charge wouldn't make much sense.
@Vee_Flames: He also said Shovel Knight was going to be playable in Smash, that NoA wasn't gonna publish Devil's Third in America and that there would be a Direct in October 2015 (that never happened by the way).

@Operative: He supervised Metroid Prime and Prime 2, and I don't think he ever acknowledged that he disliked the Prime games. I think that's just internet drama.
@Vinny: He also predicted ZombiU would get ported to PS4/XB1 and that Paper Mario U was being made.
As far as Devil's Third goes, it was fairly obvious that Nintendo had no plans on publishing that game. The only reason it got published was BECAUSE of the fan reaction.
And with Star Fox: Zero, look at his twitter history. First he said it might be delayed, then, several days before the direct, he said that it was in question and they may or may not go with the April release date. He verified the leak that turned out to be accurate too.

I don't think so. He once said that if Retro did have an idea for a fourth Metroid Prime game, he would encourage them to do it. The idea that he doesn't like them propably stems from the fact that he's not involved with them.
And if Robertson himself is to be believed, Retro's next project is likely not a Metroid title anyway.
In his Twitter he said they would have a reunion about delaying Star Fox on Friday, even though the direct came out with the release date on Thursday and was recorded many days before.
About Devil's Third I doubt it because they announced the localization in a matter of days after the rumor was reported. And I really doubt they would announce the localization this quickly if they didn't plan to do it beforehand.
And I wouldn't say Paper Mario was reported in cooperation between the two because he reported it after she did.
All in all he was wrong about a lot of things and I don't consider him to be trustworthy.

Just curious.....how on earth does Liam manage to like get secret info without getting caught? I mean, this stuff is private man, give these devs a break cause they go through a lot more than you and me playing their stuff.
As for Sakamoto-San, who knows? Maybe he can use Retro to make a 2D Metroid game or something else that isn't something that Retro has never done like maybe make another Tomadachi Life.

My guess is that people trust that Liam keeps their anonymity, and reports in a way that they don't get in trouble.

The thing with Liam is that he's been proven to have source(s) within Nintendo. If you think about it though, that gives him the perfect coverup to fabricate stuff. He can just label it as a rumor and if it's false, then he can just say that he reported a rumor.
The Star Fox debacle and now this largely harm his credibility.
