Taris from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Just goes on and on and on. By the end you really did feel desperate to find a way off of that planet.

Agreed on the Fade. What a terrible slog through dumb puzzles and boring level designs. It's like they transport you to an entire different game with crappy rules. So glad there's a mod to remove in the PC version. Apparently there's also a mod to remove the pre-Deep Roads Orzammar sequence, because a lot of people felt that a couple hours of Dwarven politics was a little out of place. I didn't mind it though. One of my favorite things about a second playthrough was actually backing the other throne claimant and seeing the other point of view. I still kill Branka every time though... what a psycho.

I've heard of those mods. If you're like me an played on console, you can't skip those sections. I've thought about buying the PC version just for the mod lol.
I also found the whole Orzammar arc was incredibly long. I think when I finally reached the Deep Roads for the first time I was thinking "why would my human Warden care about dwarven politics?".

The last levels of Super Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time were pretty bad, I had to put both games away for a very long time before I finally got up the nerve to finish them.

Also, the Neo Chicago-style level, whatever it was called, kinda ruined Rogue Galaxy. It was okay before, but it's more or less a Diablo-style game with a B-Grade anime story, and both of those aren't so good when you're in a bland environment fighting the same 3 enemies over and over again for very ill-defined reasons...seriously, it was mostly a total tangent until maybe the last third, even by its low standards...

If it weren't for skipped scene summaries, the main hero's emo phase would've ruined Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Seriously, he was upset over something he couldn't have prevented, in a universe that was not his own... there was no reason for him to be that upset and mopey about it...

Ooh I remmeber now another one.

Add the samurai land from Super Paper Mario.

The chapter is so bad that it literally gets erased from existence and replaced with the next one mid-chapter.

It honestly made me dislike the game

.

It's the chapter before the underworld, where they make you think you'll have to go through 100 individual relatively long fights with unskipabble text to get the heart, and they do force you to do 30 and then some.

It also has no save points between the fights at all.

Water levels. Always Water levels.

Even the Mario Galaxy games? Usually I hate water levels but the swimming in the Galaxy games was actually quite nice.

Call me a kid, but let me say this lol: when I played Mario Galaxy when I was younger I refuse to play water levels. Not just because they were hard... because I was scared of the creatures there...

I...must've completed that in one go. I only very vaguely recall that...

Me too. I can't remember anything like that in that game.

Anyway, something to throw in into this topic is Metal Gear Rising. Stealth sections suck but in level 5 or 6 you are forced to steatlh or else you die because of the amount of enemies. This makes this game a giant turd and a stain on platinum legacy.

Murphy Levels in Rayman Legends... awesome game ruined by those horrible touchscreen levels.. Murphy is probably my most hated character in all of video games

The last boss fight in Bioshock.
As others have mentioned, the last level on Super Mario 3D Land (not difficult but a bit unfair).
Some levels in Shantae's Risky's Revenge due to backtracking where a bit of a letdown. Just a bit, because it is one of my favorite games.

There's been ages since I completed any game. Currently I've been playing several games, which I haven't finished: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario's Golf Tour, Shovel Knight, Shantae's latest, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and a couple of others.

I don't mind Water Levels, it's just that they change throw ya for a loop, completely changing the physics to one you're not used to. They're often difficult to control and difficult to figure out, and generally have some breath limit in games where you can jump super high and land long falls like you're going down your front steps...and that's just the tip of the iceberg...

I also just remembered the level in Luigi and Mario: Inside Bowser (or whatever it is called) when Bowser fights its former minions atop the castle and they form like a giant ball and try to impede his advancing. This level stumped me for a couple of weeks before laying the game for a month and then conquer it in one go!!

I didn't even know that water levels were generally disliked until I started going to internet forums. All my years growing up gaming, I never heard anyone complain about water levels until enthusiast sites.

Not even mentioning the "LOL Water Temple, amirite guys?! GUYS?!?! XD" thing...

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I always loved water levels.
Specially in Zelda games.

So yeah, I had no idea they were disliked until the Internet happened.

Among all the tedious and frustrating parts of Super Paper Mario, the last level was what stopped you?

That was the only tedious and frustrating part from my experience...I have no clue what you're talking about. :/

Specifically that one part where you had to follow the Jester-like character. I thought that was the last level, at least. The last stretch where you have to follow you visit familiiar looking locals that I had long forgotten how to navigate pretty much killed it because there was simply no way I could finish that level without a video guide...

Well, as a disclaimer, I like Super Paper Mario a lot, it just had a number of questionable design decisions.

But I'm talking about places like Merlee's Mansion, where you literally had to continue walking on a wheel for several minutes, or the Underwhere stair, where you had to repeatedly backtrack for each of the 3 witches,
