You know what I noticed that these forums need? ...PESSIMISM! So, instead of discussing "what's our favorite..." this and that, I thought it would make for an interesting topic venting about the genres we hate! I personally dislike the Shoot 'Em Up genre. It's boring! all you do is scroll (usually just left and right) and mash the shoot button until the thing you're aiming at goes boom... That's it... Yes, I know that they're power-ups and whatnot, but they don't change the core gameplay of button mashing! Also, there's another thing that bugs me about the genre: THE INSANE DIFFICULTIES! If you don't believe me, check this out: [youtube:sQZuidKexBQ] Now, what's YOUR least favorite genre?
Mine's fighters, though some people here might already know that. I just don't see the fun of mashing random buttons until your santily clad female/spiky-haired karate expert shoots a fireball. There are SOME fighters I do like though.
The other one I hate is realistic sports/racing games. They're boring as hell (or at least not near as fun as their arcade-style counterparts), and in the case of sports games, one entry is always rendered obsolete by next years entry!
EDIT: Oh yea, forgot about boeard games. Yeah, those suck.
Real Time Strategy. I don't know why, but it just never appealed to me. Maybe it's because I never really gave one a chance. At first I didn't like strategy games in general, however, after playing Advance Wars: Dual Strike, that all changed.

EXPERIENCE MORE.... Arcade-quality graphics, awesome sound, "turbo-charged" game play, exciting TurboChip games... It's the incredible Turbo Genesis 64 Entertainment SuperSystem Experience. There's more fun, more challenge, and more excitment ready for you today!
I always wanted to like Shmups, but until this day, Solar Striker remains to be the only one I have ever had finished. I dont hate them, I am just too unpatient for them.
I dont like J-RPGs and prefer the more straighter (yes, that word got more meainings then only one here...) western ones.
"Music" games. I suck at SingStar and never touched a Guitar Hero game.
Survival Horror. This games cant reach me, I dont want to be scared so "purposely" and prefer horror like in half-life.
WW2 FPS. I already got borad after one Call of Duty game. Cant believe how some players played every CoD and MoH game...
Yea... Sports games suck too...and the only board game I play is Mario Party, but even that gets boring after a while... By the way Ricardo, the game's called Mushihimesama.
I'm working on a game that's coming out soon! Cipher Trailer
Mario Party does get rather boring some adventure games that are shitty suck like i dont like the REALY cartoony adventures some are fun but a lot fo them suck (example) loved Tales of Symphonia but i hated all the Grandia games HATED them with a passion
Board game haters here are makin' me sad. You should be forced to play Clubhouse Games! >: )
Also, shmups rock. That's a GAMER'S genre right there. I love some Radiant Silvergun, Dodonpachi, Cho Ren Sha 68k, Ikaruga, Legendary Wings, even Gradius V but never really liked the R-Type games much. Kenta Cho's stuff is really awesome too, I <3 Blast Works.
What do I hate? Good question. I hate WWII games. It's not a genre, but chances are EA has enough money and rehashes to change that fact. In my day, FPS games looked awesome and kicked ass. Stuff like Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, and even (and especially) the greatest multiplayer FPS ever, Halo..........
........... ........ .......... **BURSTS OUT LAUGHING!** Hell no. Not by a long shot, that honor goes to Unreal Tournament.
A lot of beat-em-ups bore me too. There's only a handful I like, but even beat-em-up haters love Guardian Heroes. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention. Dabbling in Soul Caliber 2 is fun and all, but I don't really like 3D fighters and pretty much hate them for the most part. Shovelware counts as a genre now, right? I love a good old-school computer puzzle game. Stuff like the Soleau Software puzzle games, and there's nothing quite like exploring dungeons in roguelikes like NetHack and ADOM, or Shiren and Torneko, or mapping out your adventures on a piece of paper at your dimly lit computer desk at 1:30 AM playing text adventures and first-person RPGs.
Looks like it's time for another "damn kids these days" rant. See ya!
