Sonic 2 8-bit (Master System/Game Gear)

After playing the underrated gem that is Sonic 1 8-bit, it was a huge step down from just about everything that made the previous game great.

Any version of Smash Bros.

I understand the appeal of playing as all these characters, but the gameplay is so uninteresting to me and the series as a whole strikes me as being overrated.

I also didn't enjoy Bioshock at all, and felt the controls were too clunky and sluggsh for a first person shooter.

Boogie (Wii/PS2).....I have never played a game so atroshish. Superman 64 and ET I find hilariously bad, but Boogie is a game that's just all sorts of not fun and not functional. Never been so irritated playing a game before...and no I did not play that game by choice.

@KennyPowers Honestly I'm the opposite, I don't like that most fighting games have such complex and ridiculous button combinations to remember. I love Smash's super simple controls yet a wide variety of moves, it makes the game more mind game based in my opinion and more skill based. (Not saying it takes doesn't take skill to be good at something like SF, but to me memorization seems like a high priority too causing people just to stick to a few characters.)

I purposely avoid bad games, so my list may includes some of your favorites

Paper mario: sticker star: This game just fails to be interesting and ruins the paper mario aspect by making every attack consumable. It would have been much better to have weaker stickers that could be used indefinitely, while giving you more powerful stickers to use on harder enemies. While the boss fights were creative, I hated that they were nearly impossible without a certain thing sticker, which let you beat the boss so easily, it felt like cheating.

Paper Mario (N64) I just really don't seem to like paper mario, do I? Well, this game just never clicked. After playing other mario RPGs like the mario & luigi series and super paper mario (incredible story, lackluster gameplay) I just expected too much out of the story. I know this is a minor complaint, but I like large numbers. Paper mario has none. You are never able to do more than about 6 damage with a basic attack and you always need 100 exp to level up. I did like that leveling up let you choose what you wanted to improve, but it bothered me that I couldn't directly increase my attack this way, instead relying on pre-set locations to upgrade my equipment.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in TIme: This reason is short. The enemies feel uninspired, along with the story. It feels like a large step down from the previous entry.

Super Mario Advance something: Mario Bros. 3. I like to replay levels. A terrible reason, I know, but it irritates me incredibly nevertheless. I like to play through the whole game, not just to beat it

All the New Super Mario Bros., except for Wii. They just felt uninspired. The most recent two feel like copies of wii, and the DS is miserable when compared to the one for the Wii

All But a Few NES Games. Let's face it, they aged horribly. Most are ridiculously unplayable messes due to high difficulty or bad controls, If you didn't grow up playing them, there is no reason to play them now. There are a few exceptions, like the latter mario bros. games and kirby's something or other. Also the Mega Man games. I may not like these, but they are much better than the rest.

I've played far worse games, but Quest 64 is probably my least favorite.

I bought it largely because I didn't own a PlayStation yet and desperately wanted an RPG to play, and I regretted the decision pretty darn quickly. It was one of the very few times I've ever bought a game and just outright disliked it

Action 52 on the NES. So heinous and broken, just one of the games from it could be a candidate for the worst ever. Truly abysmal in every category.

I missed that generation by a country mile, but I'd take it any day of the week over the current state of gaming. It surely wasn't perfect, none of the generations really were, but the NES always has something that makes me come back to it.

The current state of gaming? There are some terrible games, but some great ones also. (Mario 3d world, Bravely default, Portal 2) And if I play classics, I prefer the 16-bit era to all else. I find the N64 graphics to have aged terribly, but I like the pixelated look of the SNES and GBA

To be perfectly honest, i much perfer the early 3d era games and the Playstation 2, gamecube era over the Snes and sega genesis era of video gaming.

Not to derail the thread, but you can say the same thing about the 8-Bit generation. There are terrible games, for sure, but there's plenty of great ones. I've become so disillusioned with current gaming and game practices I've converted to a mainly retro diet, despite not playing any of the games when they were new. Just gonna have to agree to disagree. (Not gonna hijack yer thread OP )

More on topic, Superman 64 is simply dire. Just as bad as they say. There actually are real action levels beyond the rings, but they're so bad you're gonna wish it was more rings!

Uh, not to cause a war, but Chrono Trigger springs to mind. I never got into it, even though I tried... 4 times?
I just disliked the combat, the story was all over the place, it never was clear on what to do, it was tedious... everything I dislike.

Oh the flame is ON! LOL, jk, even though I do love Chrono Trigger I understand not everyone likes it.

Personally, I just couldn't get into Oblivion, and I LOVED Fallout 3. Fallout had an immensely creative atmosphere, tons of long ranged weapons to offset the horrible melee combat, VATS, and a creepy feeling about it that kept you interested. Every time I played Oblivion I just kept asking myself why I wasn't playing Xenoblade instead. Eventually, I stopped asking and started doing.

Also, Majora's Mask and Kingdom Hearts. Not because either are actually bad. It's just because they're mediocre IMO, and fans keep clamoring for remakes, ports, and sequels that I think are a waste of the developer's time. New Zelda, Chrono game, or IP in general? NO!!!!1 We want KH HD, KH3 and MM 3D...sigh

@R_champ You thought Majora's Mask was mediocre? Did you skip all the sidequests? But I see how that might be possible. One of the reasons fans like it is how different it is from Ocarina of Time. If you haven't played that, I can understand why you thought it was mediocre. But my dream zelda game would have a massive world with actual items distributed around the map like Link to the Past, and with the sidequests and characterization of majora's mask.

Ice Climbers isn't the most disappointing game I've played, but it is my least favorite. I didn't play the game for long at all. What made me get rid of it were the jumping mechanics, which felt really off, and with the game revolving around those mechanics it didn't have much appeal to me.

"The secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster."

Dark Souls. On PC. It doesn't f@$#ing work!
And, of course, the new Call of Duty games. The old ones were actually pretty good.

I'm really running out of ideas for my signature.
I've got the power! The Hidden Power!
