What ungodly horror is this.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I think a major problem with the prequels was that there was really no "fall" for Anakin. He was written as a innocent and kindhearted boy in the first movie, but by the time Episode II roles around, he's already an arrogant jerk. He remains an arrogant jerk for the entirety of II and III. Then halfway through Episode III, he is TRICKED into joining the Dark Side, not seduced. Palpatine straight up uses some slight of hand to con Anakin into murdering the entire Jedi Order. What the heck?

Then Padme dies of a "broken heart" and I spent the next 18 days puking my guts out.

In Sith he's not tricked, he's seduced by the Dark Side's power to cheat death, something he's always been terrified of, something that, from day one of Star Wars, has been fundamentally against Jedi teachings. And I'd argue Anakin is MUCH more bearable in Sith than in Clones. In Clones he's literally one of the most insufferable characters I've ever seen. He doesn't whine as much, and he doesn't act like a brat. Maybe he character wasn't written differently, but like Garfield's Peter Parker in TASM2, he just appears in situations that make him hatable much less often.

And Padme dies because she was force choked and is giving birth to twins, and lost the will to fight it (I just wish that damn robot didn't say 'Medically she's fine'). That's not unrealistic, willpower definitely has a role in death. We see it in Sherlock Season 3 Episode 3. We see it in Arrow.

There is definitely a fall from the innocent and kindhearted boy of Episode 1 to the crazy psychopath of Episode 3.

Hmm, gonna have to go with Mickey Mouse from those new Mickey Mouse shorts. Maybe I've lost my sense of humor on this, but I'm really not digging them playing Mickey's kind nature for laughs. I dunno, it just feels like they hate the character and they hate me for liking him.

Just finished re-watching the film with my Dad last night, and... I've gotta go with @CaviarMeths on this one. ^^; Sure, you might say he was seduced by the Dark Side's power to cheat death... except we never see it in action. We never see a Sith using it to keep someone alive. If anything, it was probably another one of Palpatine's lies to get Anakin to join the dark side. Plus, he only helped Palpatine because he thought (based on what he said) he could already teach him that Sith trick, but then Palpatine turns around and says "Hey, uh... I only kinda sorta meant that we could figure out how to do that... like, that guy I told you about was the only person who could do it, but I'm sure we'll figure out how he did it if we work together." And we never see Darth Vader save anyone by IV-VI so... yeah. I'm gonna say Palpatine tricked him. ^^;

Every single "baby" character Nintendo has created for any game in any spinoff of Super Mario.
Solange in Code of Princess.
Riki in Xenoblade Chronicles (I don't get why everyone likes him so much).
Pink Gold Peach in Mario Kart 8 (though, I'm okay with Metal Mario, for some odd reason).

In Sith he's not tricked, he's seduced by the Dark Side's power to cheat death, something he's always been terrified of, something that, from day one of Star Wars, has been fundamentally against Jedi teachings.

The whole ploy of Palpatine's hinges on Anakin's massive stupidity.

At this point in the film, Anakin knows that Palpatine is Sith and knows that he uses lies and deception to meet his own selfish goals. It doesn't matter though. It doesn't even take much convincing, because Anakin is really this stupid, but the scene basically amounts to "So here's a story about Plagueis that I probably just made up, now you should totally go slaughter some innocent kids and choke your pregnant wife lol, it'll totally make her live forever."

And that's what he does.

It's a trick. Anakin isn't seduced by power. He's told a convenient lie and stupidly believes it. Even dumber, at the end Palpatine reveals to Anakin that Padme died, but then Anakin just shrugs it off and decides to remain loyal to Palpatine anyway. You just tricked me into killing everyone for nothing, but whatever, we're still cool.

But there's no arc to his character. In his very first scenes in Attack of the Clones, he's angry, aggressive, arrogant, and defiant, and he still is while laying burned and broken by the lava at the end of Revenge. He's not some hero that was tragically seduced by an "easier" path to solving his problems. He's a bad apple from the onset and so insufferable and unlikeable that it's challenging to ever care what happens to him. When a character is both stupid and a jerk, I'm not sad to see him go.

The ending of Sith was absolutely heartbreaking, and I really didn't even like Anakin in the 2nd two movies.

If you go by the extended universe, I believe that the story about Plagueis is true, and Vader always had a level of resentment for Palpatine after he became robotic.

Now I'm not going to say Sith was perfect, but I always saw the scene where Anakin finally does go to the dark side isn't just motivated by his fear of death, but also in the utter despair of the moment. I'd agree that the transition was too fast though. We should have seen Anakin in a type of struggle, and Palpatine continuing to seduce him once he did turn.

Adorable, well, I may not agree, but I won't argue on that matter. Personality? He has next to none. He seriously just makes random exclamations in the third person from time to time. And typically, they're obvious, or I don't care. "Riki like ____! Riki did _____! Riki _____!" I just don't care. Although, I can't take you too seriously because I saw your spiel in the Xenoblade Chronicles thread, and... yeah, that made no sense.

Huh? I've never posted in the Xenoblade Chronicles thread...

He has tons of personality. He's excitable and optimistic and tends to speak his mind. Aside from Reyn though, the other playable characters are as dry as chalk.

Ah, I see. When he said reread the post I assumed there was some indication of what franchise he was talking about in that post. "Reread the posts before mine" with the shifty eyes may have been more helpful.

Hm, then I guess it was someone else. Same argument, though.

Reyn, I can agree with him being a great character. On Riki, however, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
