Freddy has had a slight comedic twist to his movies for a long time.

Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween games or even ones based on classic horror films

Uhm those are classic horror films. And all of them have a game. On the Atari 2600, NES etc.

Why would any developer nowadays make a game based on a 26 (Nightmare on Elm Street), 30 (Friday the 13th) or even 32 (Halloween) year old film?

Especially since most of them have sequel after sequel. So why would they bother making a game of the first one or one of the sequels. They'd have to make a game for every sequel or it wouldn't make sense.

Well it would sure beat them getting more "re-imaginings" in theaters.

Let's not forget the terrible NES games, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I expect these games to be much much better than those if they do decide to revive some of these old classics.

Yeah that's a good point, I know its not a horror film but I hope one day they would release Alein 3!!!!!

Actually I think you could consider the Alien movies to be action/horror. There are many horror elements to those movies. Aliens is one of the scariest and most intense movies I've seen, and it just happens to be packed with action. Predator is another that falls into this category of part horror and part action.

One of the reasons is that to make it a game people would actually play, you'd have to be the main character such as Freddie or Jason, but if you do that you'll have the media backlash at letting the player control a serial killer/child killer. But if you make it a game where you are playing to destroy them, it wouldn't sell. So it's a catch-22.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for Atari 2600.
You control the killer. Enjoy.

Put those two together, and you've got Alien Versus Predator. There are already two of those on PC (both very good, but the multiplayer in 2 is dead) and a new one is coming out in a month or so.

That's true, but in the time of the Atari 2600 you didn't have parents and other groups blaming video games everytime a child does something wrong.

lol Psycho? Umm how would a game like that work? Stabbing people in the shower probably wouldn't go over that well. You could make it manhunt style, but I could see soccer moms all over this one.

Plus, you'd have to dress up like your mom.

They're bringing back Scream? That franchise shoulda been left in the 90's...

Actually, it shoulda been left in someone's imagination.

I'm glad they don't base games on these shallow and cheesy movies which lack any form of intellect, are laughable and low quality, no make that no quality pieces of cinematic $hit.
