Topic: Kingdom Hearts, why is it so great?

I guess I'll have to get a PSP just for this game. That video was amazing. It's everyone's mini me.
Edit: Those are some of the coolest magics and limit breaks I've seen.

@vakama94: That was what I had read sometime back. I think they were planning to use that system originally but chose to use a different system mid-development.

...Kinda sucks that Zack is the only FF character in the game. Then again 358/2 Days only had Moogle.

@StuffGamer1-The board game is called the Command Board. From what I heard, it is an unique way to level up and gain bonuses, but it is optional.
I know a lot more about the game, but I don't want to spoil too much.
@TwilightV-Yeah, but Zack Fair is one of my favorite FF characters, so it's nice to see him in there.

Optional? Okay, now I'm even MORE confused. Still, I do look forward to learning more about it. Kingdom Hearts FTW!

Kingdom Hearts? Great? That's news to me!

Kingdom Hearts 1 was good. It had an original idea - a crossover of Square and Disney characters - and managed to pull it off surprisingly well. The gameplay is pretty good (except for flying Lego blocks through space), and the story is the closest thing I've seen in a game that resembles a dream. Just watch the opening video on Youtube and you'll see what I mean. It really is quite magical, sort of capturing the essence of both Disney and Square at once. I'd say it's an achievement just for those alone.

Also Utada Hikaru did the opening song. <3

The sequels are all pretty rubbishy cash-ins though. imo.

Seriously, i think you should get this game if your into action and or RPG games. start off with KH1 then go on by the order they were released. but if you want to make it simple for yourself play it in order by fictional chronology.
EX: Start with KH1 then KH Chain of memories then 358/2 days then KH2 and so on.

But I love me some Space Paranoids (Tron) in KH 2

I personally think (most of) the series is great because of its almost perfect balance of simplicity and difficulty. If one of the two game balances were raised, it would make combat hard and unwelcome. If one of the two balances were lowered, the game could be taken advantage of because of its simplicity therefor making combat uninteresting (which is sorta what happened to Kingdom Hearts 2). You really have to play the game to fully understand what I'm getting at. As for which game to start with, you should definitely start with the first one. Not only does it have one of the best video game songs EVAR (over-exaggeration is fun :3), but it also has the absolutely brilliant balance of simplicity and difficulty that I was talking about earlier. As for the Disney character thing you are asking about, it won't really be that bad unless you truly HATE Disney, but it shouldn't totally kill the experience.

To make things better, there are three MORE Kingdom Hearts ga... Now, I am more exicted than ever.

Wow,SE is milking the franchise more than Final Fantasy. They better be good then.

I've heard that Square was undecided on where to put the third game on a while back. I'm hoping the Wii will get some Kingdom Hearts soon...an original game too, kinda sucks that the handhelds are basically getting..."remakes?" of the PS2 games.

The first Kingdom Hearts:

• Best crossover story ever
• Fantastic music
• Great visuals and character designs that do a good job of integrating both Anime and Disney artstyles.
• Great gameplay that is easy to learn yet very deep and interesting, and the game is difficult enough to provide an incentive to learn the game's complexities.
• TONS of fan service for both sides, though it seems to lean more towards Disney than Final Fantasy.

I can't speak for the other games in the series, though.

I've been playing the GBA game lately. That's the only one I've played, I think.

Why does it stink? The game play is boring, the story is boring, and the music is boring. I thought it was boring. That's why it stinks.

What made the gameplay boring for you? What didn't you like about the story? The music...I won't ask, everyone has their own tastes and there's no real rationality to it.

Such a general answer tells us nothing.

Oh, and how far in did you get?

Meaning you go through levels that has been from the PS2 game. (most of the levels in 358/2 Days basically been ripped from KH1.) 358/2 Days was better compared to CoM though because of characters and story...but yeah, want new levels and whatnot.
