Have you got any suggestions for someone interested in listening to it? It's always seemed like a daunting genre to just plunge into!

Here are some of the legends. The thing about the jazz music genre is that there are literally dozens of music sub categories...

As a guy more into noise rock and folk rock, I can't say I've ever been too huge on jazz. I found Kind Of Blue to be pretty boring, blasphemy I know.

I just listened to The Clown by Charles Mingus and holy crap I actually enjoyed some jazz so now I'm gonna explore more jazz. [youtube:sxz9eZ1Aons]

I love jazz. I had originally checked it out because I noticed a trend among metal and rock drummers - almost all of the best ones trained in jazz drumming. From there I started listening to a lot of bop and big band with Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, and Art Blakey. The anime Kids on the Slope really got me into Jazz though, made me appreciate it much more.

I listen to a little vocal jazz too, but mostly just Sinatra.
