Origami-Instructions.com is a very good site with easy methods and pictures.

I have dreamed of visiting Japan for a while now. I was actually introduced to formal Japan and anime culture at the same time. My dad is also friends with a Japanese indie filmaker (who's a cop now), my sister is into east Asian languages and culture, and one of my aunties are living there for a little while. I wanna learn more about the country now :3

NHK World had a show on called Kawaii International. Not really in my interest zone. They were talking about some of the latest Shinjuku fasion trends. Some of their outfits were... flamboyant.

@BobbiKat, welcome to the thread. If you're wanting to learn some Japanese, I suggest the Hiragana and Katakana app from the app store, if you have an iDevice.

Listening to Aya Hirano and C*-ute (sorry iPads don't have the degree sign as I can tell)
I'm writing nicely now, it's great ^.^ I'm also learning more everyday words
I may go there to teach English, but I'm unsure of what I wanna do as a career.

Yeah but I've been meaning to do more, but never could when I was in school, now that I've graduated I'm spending my free time doing little by little to make sure my goal to move to Japan is reached ASAP

I find all of the japanese steakhouses and hibachi restaurants that are popular in the US amusing. I lived in Japan for 5 months and not once did I come across a hibachi restaurant or any restaurant serving anything resembling a steak.

If it's anything like it is in Australia, most of the Japanese restaurants (that aren't hyper-expensive), aren't run by Japanese at all.

Cool Japan was on tonight. The topic tonight was manga, and the show started with one of the hosts doing a Kamehameha wave

They interviewed over 107 people in the streets (both young and old), and only 3 said they don't read manga.

They talked about how there are manga for everyone in Japan, highlighting manga targeted towards housewives.

They also had a roundtable with a group of international visitors to Japan, and asked them what their favorite series were (Dragonball, Bleach, Akira, Fullmetal Alchemist, & Sailor Moon were mentioned).

They highlighted "Girl's Manga" (Shojo), and the genre's history.

Visited a Manga Cafe, where aspiring artists go to share ideas.

There was more to it, but I had to go do something

J-Melo was on tonight. They had taken fan requests.

the first song was Cho Happy Song, by Berryz Kobo x ºC-ute. I thought it was pretty good.

Next up was Subete E (to everything), by Alice 9. I liked it (sounded like something you'd hear for an anime opening).

Up next was Kimi To Itsu Made Mo (with you forever), by Yuzo Kayama. It's an oldie from 1965! Pretty decent.

They ended by interviewing musician Bonnie Pink, with a performance of her new release, Machi No Namae (the name of the town). I really liked it (it had a nice, emotional, soft feel to it).

Also, throughout the episode they were showing pictures and videos their international viewers sent in.

@katernity: you can find those style restaurants in Japan, but they call them 'benihana' iirc. it's related to the Benihana restaurant that opened in the US and popularized the 'chef puts on a show at the table' thing, lol — that was popularized in the US, and thus it made its way back to the tourist-y areas of Japan.

personally, i'd rather see them bring over one'a them customize-your-own-curry places. i miss those

Japan DOES have the best advertisement for games for sure, even COD commercials are better in Japan

Infinitely disagree.

@Fox yep still think the JP commercial is better, because it doesn't use actors to show what the game does! It actually makes since for a videogame
