we called a kid in our Spanish 2 class in college Ninjemo because he rocked the anime cut and a head band...he also spoke uncharacteristically loud, cussed when completely inappropriate/to get noticed/to make a scene, acted like being stupid in class was cool (haaaate that!!!), and smelled like when a baby's been eating Cheerios....anyone with a kid or a nephew/niece knows the odor. He is my perfect, stereotype current-gen emo kid. And yes, he had a Fallout Boy patch sewn onto his shirt the first day of class. I wish I still had the contact info for the kid I sat next to in that class--he used some drawing program on his comp to caricaturize that kid--epic, and hilarious.
don't waste your time learning man...be thankful you were born in an era with pure emoism. If ever curious, just go near a venue where Panic at the Disco, or similarly uninspired screamy music is playing, and watch/laugh at the attendees.

No. He's insane. Does he sit around moping after Aeris dies? No, he's too busy questioning whether or not he's really who he thinks he is. He manages to discover the truth about himself (thanks to Tifa), and sets off to finish what Aeris had started. If he were emo, he would have just stayed in one place and let Sephiroth complete his plans.
But I wouldn't expect someone who has Nanaki (Red XIII) as a username to think that deeply about it. Even Cait Sith has more character development than the supposed "last of his species". The only interesting aspect of him was his "grandfather". If not for him, I would have labeled him as emo.
Pretty much the two most retarded things about the emo subculture are: 1) The fact that emo is short for emotional and they act like it only applies to them. Newflash! Happy is an emotion. 2) That the emo or 'non-conformist' subculture is based around dressing in the same drab colours, listening to the same generic music and writing the same un-original poetry about how the girl they like doesn't like them back. My dislike isn't only directed at emos though. I agree with the fact that labelling everything as 'emo' or 'non-emo' is pointless. (See point 1) And lastly I think that while emo's are a stupid sub-culture (In fact the whole sub-culture idea in the first place is stupid) there are a lot more stupid people out there.
I can't now, nor have I ever been able to understand how people can call Cloud "emo".
I personally never thought of him as "emo" either. Though it always amused me how his clothing went from a purple jumpsuit while navigating the map/towns to a dark blue/black suit during battle and cinematic cutscenes. Playstation limitations aside, it was like he changed into a less ridiculous outfit just for every battle. Must have been tedious due to all the random encounters, lol.
Heck we had Skaters(yeah that was me), Preps, Goths, Rednecks, Crasy Insane Should Be Institutionalized People (prob the emos for real), Rich Kid, Punks, etc. It seems like every subculture that doesnt fit the mold is now considered Emo.
