It's comments like this that make me wonder about some people. Why did you buy a Wii?

I like Nintendo's key franchises like Metroid,Mario, and Zelda. They haven't offered me a Star Fox yet,and I have yet to see anything about a F-Zero. Custom Robo was great, now I want a Wii version. They aren't what they used to be. The success of the Wii has gone to their heads, and they think that they can get away with anything now. I am looking forward to some of the games, like Other M,Galaxy 2,Red Steel 2,Crystal Bearers,NSMBWii. But they really have to tell 3rd party developers "Cut the crap, make some real games for our system". Only a few 3rd party games are actually good. The Wii is a great system, but the path Nintendo took this gen is a terrible one.

Uh, no. As long as they please the fans here and do well, there is absolutely no reason why they should do this.

Haha...yes, because Nintendo is going to sit back on their piles of cash they've made this generation and say, "Hey, we really should sacrifice sales and the money we make and make games that appeal to this message board poster, RandomWiiPlayer. I know we're number 1 right now, but screw that! Making games for guys who run around calling themselves hardcore is certainly working for Sony so we should go that route!".

BTW, Nintendo has made a ton off the franchises they need to make money off of, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. That's all they've ever done, that's all they'll ever do. As for third party developers, what is Nintendo going to say? Hey! Better make better games that cater to a niche audience. Yeah, we know they don't sell at all and thank you for pointing to the sales of Madworld, No More Heroes, and The Conduit to prove it, but still...we need more 'core' games for our system that won't sell.

Some people should know a little about business before posting nonsense, and knowing is half the battle...Yo Joe.

@RandomWiiPlayer: at the rate Sony's going, they won't have many titles on the next gen. They already lost some key franchises to Microsoft and Nintendo

@RandomWiiPlayer, the kind of hardcore games you're talking about are a dime a dozen, which is why I got a Wii in the first place. I'd take the few, very diverse and unique "hardcore" (Man, I hate that word) games we have on the Wii over any generic first- or third-person shooter/destroy-everything-by-some-"new-and-unique"-method game any day

If they want to give up on longtime Nintendo only consumers then fine, let them. All I am asking is for some good third party support and for them to actually continue on their popular franchises like Star Fox and F-Zero. Too much Mario, his games are fun but to much is not good. Sony's problem isn't the games either. It is the price.

RandomWiiPlayer, they lose Nintendo fans every generation. The same way Microsoft will lose XBox fans and Sony will lose PS fans. Their goal is to retain as many possible but be realistic to the fact that they'll lose some. The progression goes, though, Nintendo fans will grow up and move on to Sony and Microsoft. A good number will stick with Nintendo (I'm one) but facts are facts and a lot of people who were Nintendo fans when they were young moved on...it's the nature of the beast. But, once XBox and PS fans move on, they just quit gaming,

Here's where Nintendo is exceeding and will continue to succeed, for every one person...say you...who moves to Sony, there will be 5 kids who are just getting into gaming and the Wii and Mario will be there to great them. Do you think Nintendo got the stereotype of being a casual/kid system for nothing? Nintendo is flat out the Pixar of videogames. They make games that are presented as such to cater to the younger generation but retain just enough to hold onto a good portion of older gamers. If you don't like it (and in most of the posts I've seen of yours, you don't) then move on. You moving on doesn't effect a single person that enjoys and loves the Wii.

BTW, I'm just going to support my argument that you should move on...if you don't like Mario anymore, then you're on the wrong system. Nintendo is the house that Mario built and Mario will always have numerous games with him in it. Outside of the mario party games, I'd really be interested to know which Mario games YOU (lets keep this to YOUR opinion instead of suggesting its a problem with a ton of people) don't like because outside of the Mario Party games they all sell and review either good to great.

You have to all wrong. I'm not saying I don't like Mario,I'm saying that there is way to much of Mario. And I don't hate the Wii either. I think it is a great system,Nintendo just has to step it up a little. I was decently happy at e3 when they announced Other M and Zelda,NSMBWii was pretty good to,but I wished they stuck to their "One 3D Mario a console" rule. I'm not saying that I won't get Galaxy 2,but they could have made something else out of it. They could have made Star Fox,or F-Zero. They need to give Mario a break and focus more on other great franchises. I'm not saying that they should just cancel out Mario forever, just for a little while. I am on the right console, only a few 360 and PS3 games interest me.

Mario sells games , pokemon sells games hence lots and lots and lots of Mario and Pokemon games. Nintendo is a buisness first and foremost and the world is in a global recession so Nintendo are gonna make games that sell well and make money.Star Fox will come,F-Zero will come etc but we have to be patient.Remember last gen Nintendo were in last place and there was rumour of them becoming software only. Now they have a product that sell's to the masses they are gonna take full advantage before taking risk's on lesser known (in the mainstream) franchices ,while fan favorite's, they don't sell as well as you might think. Not great news I know but that's buissness and I want Nintendo to survive so I'll live with the situation.

What's this bit for again?

That's not a question, we already know! How do you think we got the Wii in the first place? Just like Luigi78 said, it's because Nintendo was in last place last generation. They decided to do things differently this time (under the new genius reign of Iwata), and boy, did it WORK!

The Wii has plenty of great retail games out now and forthcoming; I have no problem with that anymore. I DO have a problem with the fact that NOJ keeps pouring out VC game after VC game upon its fans, heck, NOE is raising the quality bar quite a bit lately, but NOA keeps giving us a little drip of not-the-awesome-games-we-want. I defy any "business-minded" person to explain why we don't have Final Fantasy on VC yet. Squenix said it's up to Nintendo to release it now, so what's the holdup?

This is what I mean. And I stand by my statement. I have a BA in business economics, and I just think that because Nintendo is so successful, they aren't going to listen to their more hardcore fans as much.

And also, $249 for the Wii is a bit much considering the other consoles are both $299 now. The Wii is a great console and if I were in Nintendo's shoes, I'd do the same exact thing and keep the price at $249. But it's overpriced at this point 3 years after its launch.

When Nintendo was in third place, we got a control scheme for the Wii that no one else thought of. Being behind results in creativity.

Exactly, if their blue ocean strategy hadn't worked, we would be getting Star Fox and F-Zero by now because Nintendo wouldn't have a casual audience to cater to. They would only have us, the people that go on these forums.

Look at what Nintendo did with the Nintendo 64. They were on top off of the Super NES sales.....people were ready for a disc based console.....Nintendo said, "No, we don't need to make a disc based console yet, we will go with the same cartridge technology"

Sony then capitalized on that with their disc based console and knocked Nintendo back into second place, forcing Nintendo to change their ways for the Gamecube

RandomWiiPlayer, I suggest your review your comments over this thread and I believe one other Wii specific thread where you switch/confuse/change your position numerous times. It's very hard to have a discourse with someone who's constantly changing the context of their argument.

Bring_Back_Pluto

They would go the route of sega and stop making home consoles.
But then a bunch of wii games would look pretty on a PS3

Wii FC: 5412 0162 6187 3594
Brawl FC: 0517 4738 5514
Why do I want to bring back Pluto? Cuz the 8 others bullied it and I don't approve of bullying and I am here with this pointless movement to remind people of how (in)significant it really is!
